Why was there not a penalty called for a shove in the back? It happened right in front of the ref.

Also, earlier in the game it seemed like the referees missed 3 facemask calls against the Irish.

There was also a targeting that didn't even get reviewed that was way more obvious than the one that we had upheld. It doesn't really matter but someone needs to get a handle on targeting calls because they are even less consistently enforced than before.

Except for the incomplete catch, I thought it was a decently officiated game. Maybe my expectations are low.

The double offsides on 4th down was pretty awesome too.

Don't forget the (non) illegal motion that was called on us that could have kept our drive going and possibly won us the game.

They got away with two big face mask grabs in the first half.

Plus the BS pass interference call on our DB on the S end zone sideline

ND had quite a few more penalties called against them than we did. Over 100 yards I believe.

a lot of no calls both sides. I thought it was called very well and let the guys play ball.

Sure, a few timely calls on our side could have helped us move the ball, but let's be honest, we'd find a way to squander those free yards.

The flagged them a lot. Stupid thing to gripe about considering the way our team played.

I don't get the excuses of "our team played terrible" and "they were flagged a lot." If a guy shoves another guy in the back, that should be a penalty. If a guy has crossed the line of scrimmage before the ball is snapped, that's offsides. If a dude grabs a guy's facemask, that's a facemask.

I don't like bringing up ghost penalties as an excuse for losing.

I get it. The only one I'm really annoyed about is the shove in the back from the ND WR. How is that not called a penalty?

From my watch the officiation wasn't that one-sided...but if Alberts & Elko don't have multiple employees prosecuting these kinds of concerns, full-time, we are guaranteed to never establish ourselves in the elite. Wake up, eSIPn has put us in the same "bad guy" doghouse as FSU, and we will have to shatter many tough barriers to get the same perennial sweetheart treatment that teams like ND enjoy.

Officiation is one such barrier. How are we gonna do it?

• We need dossiers on every individual ref, their biases & tendencies, and what kind of real-time pressure they'll respond to.
• We need a research team that will compile historical biases and publish open-source review collateral & summary data.
• We need an internal review team that is externally dreaded and feared, willing to do everything from backchannel the SEC head office to publish evidence of malfeasance directly to media members.
• On gameday, we need at least 2 people in the booth watching every ref, tracking their calls and non-calls, ready to feed lobbying points to our sideline staff.
• We need friendly social media channels that will livestream real-time (seconds to minutes after calls are made or missed) officiation reviews, along with stiff "fair use" legal protection (or workarounds thereof) to enable on-the-spot delivery of convincing visual evidence.

No, I'm not joking. This is a serious issue. It may not be front of mind for most, but now is the time to start laying this foundation and building out this wing of our program.

It's like I've relived this texags day a few hundred times over the past two decades. Instead of looking for excuses just accept that we are gonna suck ass this year under a new stsff and obvious weaknesses at key positions. Expectations of anything over a winning season are too high at this point in my opinion.

Those damn zebras threw the ball to ND! Twice! And missed wide open receivers. And underthrew our back at the sideline when we needed a first. And got nervous feeling pressure that wasn't there. Elko should have benched them at halftime!
