Weigman played his first game since his injury, and he definitely looked scared.

I think the dilemma for Elko is that he is coming into a program with a five-star quarterback who has been hurt. I think there's the thought that once he gets back into a real game, he'll start to get the feel for playing quarterback again and the problems will work themselves out.

Unfortunately, that didn't appear to be the case last night. I think Elko had to choose between trying to get Weigman back or trying another QB and making Weigman a long-term project. As long as it was close, you have the hope that the right drive or two will help bring his confidence and ability back. We were in the game to the end, so there wasn't necessarily an obvious time to make the switch.

what games was he bad in besides this game and first half of Auburn last year? I guess he was bad in a few games in 2022, but he was also fantastic vs Ole Miss and very good vs Lsu. He simply hasn't played that many good teams yet. I agree last night was awful and should be on a short leash.

Totally agree. I thought I was going to be watching a game where both qb's would be running the ball but it definitely looked like he was scared to when he could have. That could have been a game changer.
