I saw this question on Twitter this morning. Assuming end of season form when both teams were firing on all cylinders, who wins?

Prime JFF v Prime Vince would be quite the spectacle.

What's the spread? O/U?

My guess: Texas -3.5 and O/U 80.5 with A&M, of course, pulling off the upset.

(Less than a month left of the ffseason. We have football this month!!)

who ever had the ball last would probably win that game. both teams were loaded with talent but had great offensive lines. would be one hell
of a game.

That 2012 A&M was special but also not unbeatable (11-2). Late season A&M would give them a run for their money.

2005 Texas was ridiculously good. I think they were only challenged by Ohio State and USC that year.

A&M was really firing at the end of that season. But also won a shootout with LA tech.

The 2005 A&M team hung with them pretty good and McGee outplayed Young overall. They won ... but we fought them tooth and nail and the 05 Aggie squad wasn't near the squad the 2012 team was.

it is interesting looking back...

that while many t.u. players from the 2005 squad went to the NFL...most of them busted -- including a lot of DB's and OL

Mike Evans -- future NFL Hall of Famer -- would be the best player on the field

and Jake Matthews -- based upon NFL tenure -- would have been the best o-lineman

unfortunately, the Ags biggest weakness would be at placekicker -- as we know all too well

I mean Josh Lambo was on that team. Surely we'd have him taking kicks instead of the atrocious Taylor Bertolet

'05 sip was the most overrated championship team of all time. They barely squeaked by our lowly Fran team and had to get tons of help to win the natty.

The first game we lost in 2012 was because the coaches didn't realize what they had. And the final game was given to corndog by the refs. JFF would've boat raced them '05 sip.

Officials? Neutral league?

Also, what are the officials social security numbers, DOB's, high schools or colleges attended?

2012 Ags win because they are all in their early 30's while the 2005 sips are around 40

2012 offense, every starter was on a NFL roster at some point. Their 2005 defense had a lot of NFL talent. The opposite matchup of 2012 defense vs 2005 offense decides the game, and it probably isn't a good result. Would have to look at the rosters again

tu refs or neutral refs?

Kidding....

...I know every game we've played against them has tu refs

And they would. It'd be a great matchup ultimately decided by some late BS call

It's be a great game with a lot of points. Maybe another 74-72 type game.

It's been a while since that game happened, so I think a lot of people tend to forget how dominant that USC team had been heading into that national title game. At the time, USC looked like a freak of nature, having won 34 straight games prior to that game. That USC team had been so dominant that analysts before the game were legitimately questioning whether or not they were the greatest team of all time. They also had 2 heisman winners on their roster. Looking at it from an objective point of view, that sip team ending that USC team's win streak on the biggest stage cemented their place as an all-time great team. They were pretty much the only team that held their own with that loaded USC team the entire year, and it was because their roster was also quite loaded. They would have a clear talent advantage over our 2012 roster, particularly in the trenches. Also, the 2012 defense was quite sub-par when compared to the 2005 sip defense. 2012 was a magical year for us, but that sip team was objectively better and would most likely win the hypothetical matchup.

By the end of the year nobody wanted to play A&M cause nobody could stop Johnny. LSU is the only team who managed to slow them down, and LSU still almost lost that game. Only two missed field goals separated A&M from a national title that year.

JFF by multiple scores.

A&M would win. We would not have a player lateral the ball for a turn over.

The 2005 team shut down VY and took the Heisman from him that day. Typical Mack Brown team loaded with talent and underperforming. JFF would have put at least 60 on them in a blowout.

It would be a great game and probably a close shootout. 49-42 type game. The 2005 Texas team would probably have a big talent advantage over our 2012 team. They snapped USC's 34-game winning streak on the biggest stage. Other than USC and Fresno State, USC had won every game by 10+ points, including 9 wins by 21+ points. In 2012, we had close wins over Ole Miss, Alabama, and even Louisiana Tech.

Why is this a question? The Aggies would win. Of course.

If it didn't come down to a FG with that 2012 team, we win easily.

My memory may not be good, but it didn't come down to a field goal, ags stopped em cold. Ref created a field goal opportunity from a phantom hit out of bounds to put then in fg range.

USC went into that 2005 game trying to blow out tu to make a statement and made tons of unforced errors.

tu had no pressure on them because nobody gave them a chance.

VY played a great game and had a defense to hinder USC just enough.

Calls went tu's way and USC made some big unforced errors.

As far as a matchup with JFF and company, that would be a great game. Too hard to call.

I don't like giving them credit, but that 2005 team killed almost everyone. If you want a debate, pick one of their other teams. 2009 you can make the argument; 2005, I honestly don't see it.

JFF was far better than Vince Young. Young was a great QB. Manziel was a magician.

Thank goodness we don't play Tech anymore. They owned us and rubbed it in our faces…
