We have an incredibly manageable schedule. 4 big home games and both Notre Dame and LSU are replacing lots of serious talent. Missouri should be tough. Texas will be good but they lost so much at skill and on defense. Somehow go 3-1 in that big 4. at Florida will be a challenge but they are depleted. Auburn could be strong if they have a QB. We may have a new coach but we return quite a few starters and guys that played significant snaps last fall and the defensive scheme is similar. Need to stay healthy, need the OL to be good. The pieces are there to be a great team.

Everybody we play sucks except Notre Dame, LSU, Missouri, and Texas. How we do in those games determines our season. If we lose all 4 of those and win the rest, the season is a failure. Split those games and get 10 wins, and it is a good season.
Why set realistic expectations when we can set unrealistic ones???MaroonStain said:TexAggie1999 said:VP at Pierce and Pierce said:

If we go 2-2 in key match ups, then the season would be a success?
Thank you.VP at Pierce and Pierce said:Once Jimbo accumulated the needed talent to become a top tier contender his S&C coach left and was replaced by an absolute dud. The new S&C guy didn't create a culture of discipline, competition, and the overall weight training and nutrition had our team looking so slow and inexplosive not to mention often injured. Jimbo then lost his OL coach who also was the only person in the building willing to suggest a more modern offense, he was replace by Addazio who sucked. Elko left and was replaced by a DC that wanted to use a two gap scheme with heavy personnel and had the DB coach teaching the worst chase technique I have ever seen, should have never been hired. Jimbo hired his buddies to be "coaches" yet most were recruiters only that struggled to coach up the talent on campus and put them in a position for success.Bobby Jimbo said:

Jimbo himself didnt create a culture where the offense was simple and clean, see all the false starts and delay of games coming out of timeouts. Jimbo ran a sloppy program, we didnt have a special teams coach it cost us games every year. Jimbo had his GM go to Oregon and was replaced by an incompetent fool, dont know who that was on. Overall the details were not being handled by Jimbo or anyone at Bright.
He preached grit, discipline, sacrifice but those things were not there on gameday other than grit. Lastly, the amount of one score games we lost is staggering. A good coach would have made the adjustments in year 4 to get those wins instead of banging that square into the circle.
He's a real Nowhere Man. Sitting in his nowhere land. Making all his nowhere posts for nobody.NowhereMan said:

Yes it would be succcessful and here is why: 10-2 means we didnt go flat and lose to a lesser team or a bad matchup scheme wise. It means we found a way to win those tough games that Sumlin and Jimbo always lost. splitting the big 4 means winning two big games with a completely new staff and completely different offensive scheme. I worry a little more about Missouri and ND than LSU and tu. The latter two are going to have to thread the neddle of getting a lot of young guys and portal guys to step up big while leaning on really good OLs and hoping injuries dont happen.MaroonStain said:TexAggie1999 said:VP at Pierce and Pierce said:

I believe it is solely based on SEC record not overall record. So one unbeaten, maybe 2 and they would both be in. Otherwise a tiebreaker between 7-1 teams which will mostly come down to head to head or common games I guess.VP at Pierce and Pierce said:
On the playoff spot and SEC title game, I am expecting complete chaos as I believe we see 5 or 6 SEC teams go 10-2 or better. The schedule is whacky and nearly every good team only plays 1 or 2 other good team. Could be wild.

First thing Elko needs to do is minimize the size of the playbook to say around 1/3rd the size of an index card. Don't laminate it or highlight stuff on it. Cut it down to a single play. That's right, one play. Work on it until you can execute your part of the play perfectly.

Missouri returns a really good qb, elite WR, and most of a strong OL. That is a recipe for a good season. The SEC in 2024 could be a wild ride with 5 to 7 teams realistically winning 10+ games due to scheduling quirks and the fact that about half the league is in rebuild mode.GigEmReggie said:
I don't understand why everyone acts like it's a given Mizzou will be good again. Their roster isn't elite overall. I think last year will prove to be a fluke and they'll be back to ~.500 in SEC play as per usual.
Their OOC schedule is a joke and they should be ashamed.

Ags owe Mizzou a beatin' for the last time they played at Kyle.
In fact, A&M is only 3-7 against them this century.
