They're in court today on this. Opening statements were today.
Fubo is suing them and trying to get a preliminary injunction preventing them from launching in time for football season.

It has to do with the prices they are charging Fubo for the same(and other) networks. I think Fubo's biggest beef is with Warner Bros/Discovery.greg.w.h said:Why should a streamer prevent hy from doing this?20ag07 said:

WBD is bringing the least to the table here. TNT's biggest centerpiece is the NBA, which they are losing to Amazon after this year. After that, it's pretty much just March Madness and MLB for them.Quote:

Fubo lost Turner over pricing, and recently lost the Discovery channels also, and have complained about the pricing they were being asked to pay. However, they are also stuck with taking non sports channels to get the sports channels from all 3. So this JV undercuts their strategy.20ag07 said:WBD is bringing the least to the table here. The streamers all get moments. Only Netflix and Disney are claiming profits on streaming…though I suspect ESPN is net positive in the streaming side but still losing income in the cable/sat/streaming aggregators side. The costs aren't greater for distributing the content they already did or they are mitigated by individual schools producing the + content for SECN+ and ACCN+. They're still looking for marketplace leverage on ESPN+ but their ad quality is improving. Thought the repetitiveness is daunting…Ferg said:Fubo lost Turner over pricing, and recently lost the Discovery channels also, and have complained about the pricing they were being asked to pay. This is the introductory price. Once the anti-trust hurdles have been cleared and this combined company is in operation, they will ratchet up the prices every year counting on your desire to keep the ABC, Disney, ESPN, Fox bundle...which others will not be able to replicate individually.BMX Bandit said:BREAKING: The new Disney, Fox Sports, and Warner Bros. Not a bad price.

Won't stay anywhere close to that price for long, but it's a much lower starting point than I expected. Thought it would be $50+. At $42.99 I'll definitely be doing Venu for football season this year (have done YTTV or Hulu in previous years). Will re-evaluate in future years depending on where they move the price to.
Yeah, this will probably be $100 a month within 3 years. But for this year, I will definitely use it. It will actually be cheaper than Sling with the sports package at $42.99.
NEWS: Venu—the new sports TV bundle from Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery—will launch in August, sooner than expected.

The target launch approaches even as a federal judge plans to make a decision regarding Fubo's injunction.

It does include FOX and ABC locals, so you could just add Paramount plus and Peacock.dabo man said:
DirecTV Stream expires on 8/26, and I've been planning on going to Hulu + Live TV, I would sign up for this if it offered locals.

Fubo's deal with Disney to end the Venu litigation also ends its lawsuit against the industry's channel bundling, ending for now the most serious challenge to the decades old practice. My story for @awfulannouncing https://t.co/EzCXyk5Lwf
