Alcohol has destroyed more marriages, families, careers, friendships, and lives, more so than any substance on planet earth. It is the beverage of choice for fools.

...but you do you.
How does it compare to pride and condescension ?

You serious with this *****

Alcohol is pure poison. I've seen it destroy many lives and hell I don't even know that many people. From folks cheating to folks losing jobs to folks losing family members to folks drinking themselves to death to folks driving drunk and killing themselves and others. In my short life, I've seen the effects of alcohol and I struggle to find the "good" it brings.

Alcohol is a lie. I'll give you an example of how powerful its pull is. I dated a girl whose life was torn apart by alcohol. She saw her folks split up and then her father drink himself to death over it. You know how she handled that problem? By drinking. Three years later, she drops out of college, has been arrested for assault, etc. and yet still, her outlet is the same path as her father and with the same results.

And an ad like this that reads more like a poke at folks' abstinence to the scourge is appropriate for this site? Pretty horrendous if you ask me but hey, I'm a bit raw on the issue considering all the death I've seen from its wake. I still mourn my friend Jaden and the death of the soul of Steffanie. It's really really sad.

Apples to oranges.

What I stated has actual data to back up how destructive alcohol is.

Alcohol is a big lie.

Harsh reality, leads to a life of regret and pain.

Alcohol is not your friend yet it is often the pick over a child's baseball game or a quiet conversation with a spouse.

lol, it often is not as well.

But those predisposed to moral superiority carry that with them wherever they go

Lot of joking around on the topic. But dry January is a pretty good thing, IMHO. I started it eight years ago. The first year was really hard, and I wondered why in the hell they didn't pick a shorter month like Feb. After a few years, it was easier and eventually led to "special occasions only" drinking. And now, if my wife didn't have the occasional drink (like a glass of wine every few weeks), I wouldn't drink at all. Just feel so much better and don't miss it.

And no, I was never an Alcoholic (but I do have some in the extended family).

So I'm a huge supporter of the whole concept. I recommend that every drinker give it a try.

what an odd position to take on the merits of being a drunk.

Nobody on here was praising being a drunk.

Alcohol doesn't destroy marriages, people destroy marriages.

Also, January is too long, so I'm doing a dry February. I've managed 4.5 days so far.

Yes people are still responsible but have you ever seen someone become blackout drunk? You can't honestly state that folks who are tanked have the same judgement as they would when sober. It's night and day. I used to bartend and I'll never forget a fella make the worst decision of his life by bedding the rando woman who was all over the guy. We even spoke with the fella after the lady went to the restroom. "Don't do this man." Well, alcohol is a great aphrodisiac and that fella has to live with cheating on his wife. Sober life, happy life.

There's a difference between having a couple drinks and getting hammered. Some of y'all are painting with a broad brush. Just because someone drinks, doesn't make them a drunk.

Kinda like cigarettes don't cause cancer, people cause cancer.

Cigarettes don't cause cancer. People smoking cigarettes causes cancer.

You could put a billion cigarettes in a room for a billion years and, if nobody smoked one, no cancer would be caused.

It's the same with guns. Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people.

Put a billion guns in a room for a billion years and, if no person touched any of them, not one death would be caused.

I tried, but I had to go to London for meetings and I stayed at The Beaumont hotel. They have 5 different Pappy Van Winkle and other of the Buffalo Trace difficult to find bourbons. Nobody drinks them except for Americans, the bartender tells me.
This American had his years worth. Not sorry. Stupid liver.
