Not so much coaching them.
Exactly, recruiting important. Coaching more important.
For our Spanish speaking friends.
Important = Importante

Why would any successful business person throw good money after bad at a poorly run organization with a bunch of entitled brats that don't give a **** about the school or its fans and is looking for the next big paycheck regardless of what school it comes from?

In one of the Loochador podcasts after the firing, he pretty much said that the AD choice was to either keep Jimbo and try to money-whip enough of the players into staying, or get rid of Jimbo. I know that Athletic Department money can't be used to pay players, but I also know that donor money is somewhat fungible, so it seemed almost like an either/or type situation.

Think more truth to this than most know. Billy hinted about it a couple times and has stated funds were as deep as many think (always been a bit of a false narrative and many programs have surpassed out NIL programs).
Have heard from several we have divided house of BMAs as some are tired of spending for no results, some didn't want to get rid of Jimbo (relationship w Jimbo and thought we were close as so many games were close), and even heard a 1-2 were mad at Bjork for firing Jimbo (w/o letting them know - surprise attack, why Bjork has had to find ways to fund incl increased concessions next yr and lower budget for Elko to pay coaches).
Who knows all the nuances, but Elko has been handed more hurdles than fair to him and basically more of a rebuild mode than anyone anticipated.

This times 1000. NIL and the new Transfer Portal have killed college football in very short order. Use to be a semblance of the college athlete beforehand. Now it isn't even close. It's semi pro ball now with cash buying your team every year and talent being sought with no expectation of school loyalty. Instead of MLB minor league teams in smaller cities you have NFL semi pro teams at colleges, at least for the FBS division. Only difference is the colleges don't have direct NFL team affiliations. I no longer have any expectation that those on the gridiron that happen to be wearing an Aggie uniform have anything remotely in common with the eight gentlemen on the Northeast hallway of the MSC.
I think the point is both the AD and the NIL groups get donations from the same A&M football fan base. If the AD leans on those donors because of a $76mm obligation, there is less left to give to the NIL funds.greg.w.h said:False. Yes, if by "killing it in NIL" you mean raiding the piggy bank to pay off Jimbo. We have killed it.

Except the school is impeding media revenue and creating new revenue streams to pay it off. So that doesn't happen.
