I mean, it's not an unreasonable concern. Everyone was popping off about how we had a really good NIL game going for a while, and now everyone in the know is trying to brush that under the rug now.

It would be nice to get some insight into why we're struggling in this area more than we expected.

Yes, if by "killing it in NIL" you mean raiding the piggy bank to pay off Jimbo. We have killed it.

Why would any successful business person throw good money after bad at a poorly run organization with a bunch of entitled brats that don't give a **** about the school or its fans and is looking for the next big paycheck regardless of what school it comes from?

We spent millions on a bad coach and a selfish roster. Dont blame a few for holding on to their checkbooks until we see what Elko can do.

We spent like drunken trophy wives and got nothing but selfish; me-first players and a cancerous locker.

Lets see what a team first locker looks like for a change.

False. No money from TMF or athletic department budget can fund NIL.

This times 1000. NIL and the new Transfer Portal have killed college football in very short order. Use to be a semblance of the college athlete beforehand. Now it isn't even close. It's semi pro ball now with cash buying your team every year and talent being sought with no expectation of school loyalty. Instead of MLB minor league teams in smaller cities you have NFL semi pro teams at colleges, at least for the FBS division. Only difference is the colleges don't have direct NFL team affiliations. I no longer have any expectation that those on the gridiron that happen to be wearing an Aggie uniform have anything remotely in common with the eight gentlemen on the Northeast hallway of the MSC.

It's almost as if the guy doing the recruiting matters just a little bit more than the money. Almost.

So Staff might delete this, but I read from the usual rags that the Aggie big donors are divided over various aspects of your coaching change and the purse strings aren't as loose as they could be. Elko might need to do it somewhat on his own for a while.

I'm aligned more with Elko. NIL is not the focus to get where we want to be.

We're currently in the process of paying Jimbo $76million to sit on the couch and eat Cheetos.

Because if they don't, who will? Every major university has boosters in the same situation. tu won't stop, if our BMA's don't do it we're screwed.

No possible way in hell evan never made a penny. I've seen his Instagram. Everything he wears is designer ($600 t shirts, $900 jeans) and he drives a $90k Hellcat. He wasn't making "millions" like slicedbread claimed, but let's not pretend our NIL fund never gave him anything.

Not so much coaching them.

Send the bulk of your NIL on the very best QB in the county. Then pay some big guys to give him time to operate, then DL.

I have zero interest in having a minor league football team. I understand that NIL is a reality and we can't compete without it. Hopefully, we can build a team that does us proud on and off the field.

We are really bad at football. Top to bottom and in between.

Really bad.

Hope this helps.

So hold your checks and lose stars in recruiting, including a loss to Auburn for crying out loud. And lose starters and major contributors in the portal.

I don't care who the coach is, you have to have talent to win.

Ridiculous!

Exactly, it's a never ending cycle unfortunately…if you lose you don't want to pay but if you don't pay you keep losing

Tell me you don't know a damn thing about NIL, the Athletic Department funding/budget, and the TMF, without telling me.

Just posting factually devoid malarkey for ignorant stars.

I mean, is it unreasonable to believe that big 12th Man Foundation donors are also big NIL funders? And that if the 12th Man Fdn asked for a lot of money to pay off the old coaching staff that these people said, "okay but that means less to the NIL."

Serious question.

It's already been stated the first buyout payment is coming from TMF slush funds that are outside the regular budget. The annual payments will come from the AD annual budget. With Elko's lower salary and smaller staff Jimbo's buyout only costs an extra $2.3 million per year.

Bottom line, it's not crippling our bank accounts.

It's not dead. The student athletes deserve at least as large a share of the revenue as the coaches if not half. The bowl games need fewer restrictions on payments to lock in players that extend beyond base NIL. Or there needs to be a collective bargaining agreement that supports contracts.

Keep in mind Title IX was always based on stripping football and basketball revenue to fund sports opportunities for women and the revenue for women's sports adds very little today to the pot. But if we make universities all female and all male…we can fix that…

I think this will somewhat put a small hold on NIL in the future. Eventually people get tired of spending money on players only for them to leave after a year or 2 in the portal.

Let's not make a judgment on this till we see 2025 recruiting. Logic says we have cleared a lot of money off the books with the transfers out so there should be money to spend.
