If we waited until then the roster and recruiting class would have completely fallen apart.

We can argue all day about whether or not DeBoer would've been interested in leaving Washington. I think if you throw enough money at a guy, he's always willing to talk. And depending on his personality, or what he privately thinks of the Washington job, he might've been willing to come here and coach SEC football. It's a moot point.20ag07 said:

We much have watched a different game but facts do not lie_mpaul said:medaggie said:
The OU line on both sides are much better
Not from what I saw
I don't follow AZ and have no idea if their coach is any good. The team that played OU yesterday would get decimated by any decent team b/c their lines stink. The Porkchop Express said:They were 1-11 two years ago. This year 10-3.Medaggie said:
Nope, just this game. Their resume is not impressive. They didn't play Oregon. They lost to 5-7 Miss state, Wash, and a bad USC. They beat Stanford by 1, Colorado by 3. A few good wins.
They have 6 turnovers but given up close to 600 yards. If OU could hold on to the ball, the game would not be close. they gave up 200 yards rushing while rushing for 29 yards. The OU line on both sides are much better which is where games are won. Plus OU doesn't even have their starting QB in who threw for 360 yards.
I don't see anything impressive.

I can tell you we would have seen more transfers and our recruiting class would be in shambles if we waited to hire a coach.
That doesn't mean we couldn't or wouldn't recover but this is would be a lot worse if we waited.
Someone said they were returning a decent chunk of this year's team. I guess AZ should be a contender for the Big 12 next year then. It's really wide open. Utah kinda collapsed late and they'll be relying on Rising coming back from his injury. Kansas will also be breaking in a new QB. KState lost Collin Klein, but I thought they were impressive in their bowl win. Texas Tech... well they ended on a high note. Oklahoma State should be respectable to good again.Medaggie said:

You can't run the ball, ,can't stop the run ends up multiple loses
Well A&M has had plenty of trouble with MSU as well over the years especially in Starkville.phatty26 said:
Az was best by an awful msu team

Arizona is PROOF Dumbo was a fraud and didn't want to be at A&M. Dumblin ran that Arizona program to the ground and they've already recovered. Why A&M cannot be successful with much better resources is beyond me.
P4 Conferences will get one autobid for the champion certainly. The Pac 2 might be able to filch a spot too for a year or two due to legalities and contracts still extant. That leaves 7 spots to be divided in some combination between SEC, B1G, and ACC, and the highest G5 champion. The SEC/B1G will certainly demand 2-3 at large bids a piece, so whether the ACC/Big 12 get an extra slot beyond the champion's allotment depends on how impressive their #2 team is.VikingNik said:GinMan said:VikingNik said:

You don't think the big xii is going to get a seat at a 12 seat table? Especially if it is a big state school?

Make you feel better to use special names for former coaches?
Arizona only had 350 yards last night vs OU too, while OU had 550 yards. I like Fisch, but he does not guarantee an explosive offense.cevans_40 said:TAMUallen said:

No thanks. Offensive guys suck
Arizona pretty much needed miracles to win last night vs OU and Deboer wasn't even answering the phone. The Marksman said:
I've said it before and I'll say it again: not hiring DeBoer or Fisch was a huge fail on our part. I'm happy with Elko, but I think those two were clearly better candidates who were very much attainable.
We just paid our new coach $7 million per year, and you're talking about us paying a ton more for someone? lol. Deboer was not even returning our calls. Get a good OC (or Klein be that good OC), and we've got what DeBoer brings bc Elko is a good Head Coach. DeBoer is not some elite recruiter. His recruiting class is rated like .87 which is awful. I get it's the school in part or mostly and possibly why he'd change jobs, but given he wouldn't return our calls….seems unlikely. The Marksman said:We can argue all day about whether or not DeBoer would've been interested in leaving Washington. But the above statement you made is a blatant lie and shows you do not pay much attention to football. Your posting history does show all you do is post in the entertainment forum, so...
And yet they won 7 straight games to end the season and are probably going to finish the year ranked #10 in the country with 3 wins over ranked opponents despite having literally never been thought of as a football school.Medaggie said:I don't follow AZ and have no idea if their coach is any good. So because Arizona struggled in a bowl game Fisch is a bad coach? Gotcha.Aggie1188 said:Arizona pretty much needed miracles to win last night vs OU and Deboer wasn't even answering the phone. The Marksman said:

Every team was playing short due to transfer and draft. OU didn't even have their top 2 QB and started a true freshman. They were missing WRs and linemen too.VikingNik said:
AZ was playing a freshman at Left Tackle last night after starter declared for draft and OU was gobbling them up.
