What team were you watching over the last 6 years ? Both Jimbo and Mond were mediocre at best, just like our team performance for the last 84 years !

Ask yourself this question: If we hired a professional search firm (quite a few out there, that's how Michigan got Harbaugh) to find us a HC who would be likely to lead his team to a NATTY in the next 3-4 years, do you really think Elko would be on that list ? Sorry, not me.

I would like to have seen us use a professional search team, as indicated above. While they're doing their search, we may as well have kept Jimbo because we were going to pay him anyway, and 2024 is a lost season whether we kept Jimbo or a hired brand new HC. Once we got our list of 5 HCs from the search firm, we could start at the top and being making offers until we got one; THEN fire Fisher.

Maybe in 3-4 years, when we get rid of Elko, someone will consider this approach.....or, maybe we can just keep on working toward another 84 years of mediocrity.

Jimbo was a good recruiter but a crappy coach. He needed an overwhelming talent advantage to win. Outside of one game against Bama I can't remember him ever beating a team where he didn't have a big talent advantage.

I doubt we had anything more than a neglible talent advantage over every LSU team that Jimbo faced, other than 2019. Yet Jimbo beat the swamp kitties 3 times, including with his worst team, and lost one with a highly questionable non-call on a clear turnover.

Leads to the typical argument as to which of our last two coaches were worse than the other. Saying that either one of them was the best coach since RC is like debating if gonorrhea is worse than syphilis.

I had doubts in 2021 after entering the season with sky high expectations, but in 2022 after losing to app state, I lost nearly all hope I had.

Once he stopped taking any responsibility for the results. I think it happened about the middle of the 2021 season.

It was during the third quarter of the App State game. This was just as bad as Fran losing 77-0 to OU.

Almost as unbearable is Bjork.

"A coach that has a program identity, great interpersonal skills, track record of player development, commitment to academics, a recruiting machine, supreme organizational skills, culture of discipline, passion for the game, proven winner, strong leadership skills, involved in the community, of course knowledge of X's and O's, and someone who understands and can also capitalize in today's modern day college athletics."

And to think Bjork was on his way to hire Stoops from Kentucky weighing in against his own criteria.

When it became obvious Jimbo brought all his Florida State demons with him to A&M. Look how long it took Florida State to get good after Jimbo left.

Same stuff...pretty much..I wonder if Collin Klein knows he is the sacrificial lamb after year one.

I knew he was bad when I realized how little I paid attention to Aggie football. I couldn't name half of our starters. Years ago when I was a recruiting junky I could tell you their life stories.

I went from a lifetime of moving heaven and earth to watch very play to losing zero winks if I was going to miss some of the games. Sure I'd make sure I could watch the big ones like bama or LSU, but I gave zero F's about missing the USCs or Auburns. I'd still watch them but no longer blocked my calendar off, refused to run an errand during the game, etc.

Jimbo quit when we didn't get into the playoffs in 2020. He saw that the name wasn't big enough and we could only get in by being perfect. Hard to do in the SEC.

I knew it was over when we lost to Miami. He didn't have his team ready. I kept saying to myself " he's holding back until conference play begins". Wrong, wrong, wrong. As stated by others above he was in love with himself too much to change.

I knew it was bad when his really inspiring speeches kept on saying the same thing but never changing results
