1) We struggled year after year to get short yardage first downs in critical situations.
2) We had multiple quarterbacks injured each year from poor OL play.
3) We failed to execute game after game
4) We continued to be within inches of winning
5) Various forms of on field discipline were extremely poor

We put up with this and much more for 6 years before figuring it out.

Totally not true. He made plenty in year one getting the team back in it against Clemson. Everybody was excited.

I never felt like we beat the crap out of bad or below average teams. We would pull away late and maybe cover but we never just pounced on bad teams early and left no doubt. See Vandy in 2020. Those close wins weren't pretty and gave ammo to the "A&M doesn't belong in the playoffs" talking heads.

When much like Sumlin, the AD and this board went all in on the dude with sky high expectations of conference championships and Nattys.

I realize some readers were skeptical, but the overwhelming consensus with both hires was that they would succeed where their incumbent failed.

I had my doubts when they hired him, but the "GLARING" example of ineptitude was the App State game that I had the pleasure of attending.

Watching this idiot do the same thing over and over and over again was unbearable. I came out of that stadium knowing he was NOT the answer and if he didn't get released soon, we were ****ed.

You know, I remained a strong believer in Jimbo even through last season (2022). But I did have a bad feeling about his motivational abilities when #8 Auburn beat his 2019 team at Kyle Field in an 11am kickoff. That day, the Ags just did not look like they cared, and that is on the coaches.

I'll say that even at lesser programs with fewer advantages, the right coach is all it takes. At A&M, the right coach will have us in the top 10 routinely.

When he was first hired. I distinctly remember him getting in an argument with some dude in the stands his last season at FSU and wondering how much longer it would be before he got fired.

We come out of a 2.5 minute tv ad and have to call a timeout or get penalized for not getting a play off in time. That happened 2-3 times. Frustrating! Late in the season we're still moving or jumping offsides.

He was definitely at his best as a big underdog, but even then wasn't too remarkable.

More that he had to hitch his wagon to Mond because he couldn't recruit or train up better. He and Mond both maxed out their abilities but the fact that Jimbo couldn't get and train up better QBs in the time he was here was his downfall.
