Nolen is a big reason why Cooper and York had really strong years. He is a tremendous asset, and I'd love to have him back as the anchor to that DL.
I keep seeing this and while Ole Miss boosters may think this way, I don't understand why. That back end schedule of at LSU, BYE, Oklahoma, at Arkansas, Georgia, BYE, at Florida, and then the Egg Bowl isn't particularly better than most other SEC teams schedules next year.AggieDub04 said:Had a recent conversation with an Ole Miss booster. They are going all in for 2024 because the schedule lines up and there is some concern they will lose Lane at some point. This is similar to a baseball team seeing they have a core of young talent and going on a spending spree for a few years to try to win a title. They may not be able to sustain this or keep up with other schools over the long haul, but for one year they can outbid for specific players.HoustonAg2106 said:infinity ag said:Spica said:
Big Walt is considering staying, too. It's difficult to break the bonds of brotherhood that are two years in the making. He and the rest of their class have been through a lot together. And the troublemakers in their class departed last year.
bonds of brotherhood hahahhaha
You wave a few more dollar bills near his nose and he is gone too.
In these conditions, I don't blame him either. CFB is wrecked.
We should be able to match whatever Ole Miss is offering, if he leaves it's not just because of money

I think we're talking about more than just a few dollars, the difference is likely more than a lot of people make in a year.
Its silly to act like someone is wrong for taking life changing money.

He led the defensive line in tackles, was 2nd DL in sacks, consistently reset the line of scrimmage, and made plays at critical times. He was a force inside and will only get much better with age. He will be a no brainer top 3 round draft pick.AgOutsideAustin said:Gyles Marrett said:A DT is never going to get the flash and notoriety as a DE. Nolen has been a complete monster in the middle often tying up multiple OL letting our LB run free and make plays. It's a big part of the improved LB play we have seen. He's also been great in the run game.AgOutsideAustin said:Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Except this is referencing Shemar StewartAgOutsideAustin said:
Good, Turner has been a better player than Nolen.
Oops wrong Turner lol !!
Almost still applies though …… Nolen has been good but not the game wrecker you would think as the #1 DL.
Both Shemar's are going to get the flash and attention a DE gets with the pass rush and sacks. I've been saying getting both Shemar's back is very very important.
I get that but as the #1 DT at some point he should be unblockable and dominate inferior OL's. I know he eats up double teams in the run game and I think he is a really good player but i guess i expected a little more.

Why is it breaking news a player is staying?
I think the breaking news is Walter's reaction and the speculation that he may stay too now...WC94 said:

All a school needs is a good year or two.
The bigger problem is at some point, this will be tamped down..and I think sooner than later. A&M is behind here on this.....this year, make the splashes as I will say others will start pushing once they have the pieces in place to have the bidding cease.
The bamas, tu's, Ohio state et al will have have this nixed.
So the teams that have the biggest financial football resources to now legally pay players, the teams that got Gibbs, Ewers, and Fields via transfer, they are going to push to put an end to NIL & the portal???

Thread is specifically about Ole Miss....it continues and yes they will.
The after-mentioned will not be ruined by the likes of Ole Miss, Nebraska, A&M or Michigan...

Good point. He probably won't make it in the NFL if he spends a season at Ole MissMuy said:
If Walter sees the bigger picture, the additional money he will make in the NFL will lay a big steamy turd on what Kiffin is offering for a season.
