I think he had a nagging injury to start the year but not sure if it kept him out all year.

Just a hunch, but I think Grimes and Fatheree wanted to redshirt this year for whatever reason.

To Vaders point he had an injury (I believe a hamstring). Based on what was public it was suffered in fall camp, he tried to rehab and either re-injured it mid season or just wasn't able to get it together in time to get in game shape.

Hamstring injuries can linger, hamstring issues on a CB are like kryptonite. They take 6-8 weeks to heal and the smallest tweak from coming back a tad early makes you restart that clock

Tony Grimes was one of those 5 stars that has really never produced .
I believe he started out at North Carolina and was a big disappointment there .
I'm not sure he will ever contribute at a high level here .
