One of the transfers happened because the kid showed up to the 1st team meeting with Elko 25 minutes late. Elko told him to hit the road.
Did this really happen? Haven't heard about this but kudos if true.
Zero chance this happened, I mean I know we all get aroused at the thought of this but no way it happened like this.
Except it looks like it did. So....
I think it is possible, especially if Elko is trying to send a message to the players about their dedication to the team. Being late a few minutes would be passable, but 25 is not acceptable in my book. Essentially "If you can't make it on time to the team meeting, you won't make it onto the field...have a nice day."
A very close friend is a retired Marine Colonel, we were talking about motivation one day in the team context and he told me a story from early in his career…
As a young lieutenant he was attached to a senior Navy Captain. Discussing this same topic, the Captain said to him "a burning ship on the horizon keeps the rest of the fleet on-line."
Yes it does. And I have done the same.
I had one interaction with Coach Elko in 2019 on the sideline during a practice, Intense really doesn't do the man justice when he is plugged in. Watching how this goes the next couple of years is going to be fun.
