We were .500 the last two years, zero road wins and a home loss to App State. A purge is needed from the top down.

Let's look at this from the Colorado case study: more than half the roster turns over and, while they were 4-8, decent to good coach MAY have gotten them to better results this year. The following games were winnable for them:

-- USC
-- Stanford (should have won that anyway)
-- UCLA
-- Oregon State
-- Arizona
-- Utah

OK, so 10 wins is probably a stretch. Make that a non-starter. But I'd argue having someone competent on their staff (and they truly didn't have anyone contrary to certain opinions on here), they'd probably win 4 of those games, getting to 8-4 on the year.

My point with this exercise, though unprovable, is that a roster turnover shouldn't be a sure path to a losing or even less than good record. This is even assuming we have one (turnover).

I said before and say it now, that I can't image he pulled the trigger on Jimbo at that particular time without any plans….now looks this is indeed the case …not acceptable

This may be the dumbest post I've seen yet. Silver lining of losing your best edge rusher, starting TE, your best corner, starting freshman ol, backup edge rusher that should be coming into his own this year. There's nothing to be happy about losing these kind of players.

We're trying to cope with the evolving situation and looking for every silver lining possible.

Jimbo let a culture of mediocrity develop, and instead of working their ass off, many players (not the majority) enjoyed A&M's money and facilities like staying at the Ritz. It will be hard for some of them who are upper classmen to change that elsewhere, so let's get grinders with high football IQs and a killer instinct to replace them.

How many times have you seen a team with huge talent, but don't seem to get to the top? How many teams with no big name talent somehow are able to climb that hill and become champions?

I think A&M had all the talent necessary to make it to the top, but coaching was not able to assimilate the talent into a great team. I think many of these players heading for the portal are likely these ones who were in this just for themselves and were not buying into the team vision and are not willing to give the new coaching staff a chance to create the team vision.

I hate we are losing so many talented players to the portal, but if they were not in this for the Aggie Team in the first place, do they really belong in the future vision? They are giving A&M their answer.
