The difference is that you choose the coach when you transfer. If you stay, you have no impact on who your coach will be.

I think the whole thing stinks to high heaven. Like somebody above said, don't get too attached to your players. I can just see sitting around 40 years from now being like "remember that one year we JaqQuavious Wilson? Was that 2029, 2030, maybe? Man, that dude was incredible. He was really something to see that one year he was here."

Hope we have clawback provisions in his NIL deal.

This. I would like to see him stay, but at the end of the day it's not about recruiting rankings and having as much talent as possible on the roster, but about what you do with that talent- i.e., winning.

If we wanted to just keep claiming recruiting titles and get mediocre results, we could have just extended Jimbo indefinitely.

On an optimistic note, no one is ever really gone until they enroll at another school. The transfer portal has been talked about a lot recently as a trade/free agency window where players can go jist to "what's out there" or test the waters/get leverage for a NIL raise.

Its going to get worse before it gets better. This happens at every program when they clean house. It happened at texas when sark took over and its going to happen here too

Losing Robinson really hurt….

It appears these guys are loyal to their position coaches. The one solid position on this team was the defensive line and now that Robinson has decided to move on, the players are without their coach. I wonder how many will hit the portal and how many would have stayed if he had been made the DC. The defense should have been the most secure side of the team with the former DC now the head coach and a tried and tested defensive line considered one of the best in the country with an outstanding position coach. If you start losing your defense then you had better go find a high scoring OC.

Sucks to see him go, but things happen for reasons. Onward and upward gentlemen. We asked for a new beginning, and we got it. There will always be collateral damage. In Elko we trust. I'm hoping for a fun ride from here. Team will always have my support.

Good thing we fired Jimbo mid-season and then rushed the HC decision to keep these studs instead of getting the best coach available.

Wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of the players jump ship. We have gone from the only Texas team in the SEC to one of two starting next year. One of those teams is on an upward trajectory and in the playoffs, the other one is in decline or, at best, treading water, and we filled the HC position with none of the big names but had to settle for someone who has only 25 games under his belt as a HC.

Maybe it will all work out but I suspect there are going to be some lean times before it does.

Go listen to any interview with Elko and I think you're pov would change regarding worrying about a HC that only has 25 games under his belt.

This one's confusing... Elko is a defense oriented coach.
