Why watch the CFP this year? It just perpetuates this insanity. Don't watch the games. Poor ratings will change things more than you think.

What are you talking about?

Those are probably the Top 4 teams as of right now. And, quite frankly, look to be some great matchups.

Florida State needs to opt out en mass right before they bring the teams out of the locker rooms.

Between what NIL has done to the sport and add BS politics like this today kinda takes the fun and what little purity the game still had out of it.

This.

Whoever came up with this idea nailed it. I'd refuse to play.

Anecdotal examples were there sure. But not everyone did it. Some programs still had integrity.

Why play any games? You can go undefeated, and win a power 5 while beating 2 SEC teams but two one loss teams make it in? One of whom has an early season loss to another CFP team?

I mean if I'm FSU (or Georgia) and I win, I'm putting an asterisk next to a claimed championship this year

That's not what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be about a season of work. FSU earned it. Texas and Alabama did not.

What if the NFL played a 17 game season, then the league said "We don't care about records. The teams we think are playing the best right now will be in the playoffs."

Insane.

Let's get crazier and say that nobody is undefeated and they let a team who was beaten twice, by the same team in conference and conference championship, into a 12 team playoff.

At some point it just has to stop and there must be a way to make things better or there are some rules in place that automatically exclude. This isn't NCAA basketball so the top 30 at least are pretty much agreed upon. Nobody on the edge will ever be happy but this year was a horror. Will there be a one loss national champion while another team remains undefeated? That shouldn't be a question unless the undefeated is a small school without consistent and good p5 level competition.

It would be impossible to organize a boycott of any measurable significance. Instead I will watch the games because I enjoy watching college football, and pretty soon it'll go away for 9 months.

I imagine this same discussion must've happened 40+ years ago, in the realm of wrestling. OP would be on the side of actual wrestling enthusiasts, perhaps a trained wrestler himself. The others would be the type that pour into _(your local county)_ County Coliseum and sit on folding chairs to watch Kerry Von Erich or Andre the Giant.

Guess who lost that war, and guess who's gonna lose this war.

Not Vince McMahon and the airbrushed t-shirt industry

I loved the reaction of the Michigan players when they saw it was Alabama. They thought it was going to be a cakewalk to the final.

I would love to see all of the ACC do this. Show ip for the extra practices and all of the bowl game festivities and then say all of our QB's are hurt and can't play. Or show up and kickoff and just stand there and let the other team run the kick back. I am Vegas would love the 2nd scenario.

It is fun to think of ways, but anything they can do to still get paid while making a further mockery of the whole situation would be awesome.

College football needs to take the next step and embrace their lack of integrity and champion and lampoon it just like wrestling did.

Seems like an opportunity to pick up an easy W since Georgia is unmotivated to play in NY6 bowls if it doesn't make the playoffs. Take the W over the two time defending champ who doesn't care to be there (like against Texas a few years ago) and spike the ball/claim a title.

This year really shows why the playoff expansion was a good idea. An undefeated conference champion and the best team (Georgia) got left out.

I can't wait until next year. There will be a few teams complaining about not being #12 but no one will care because the 13/14 ranked teams have zero shot of winning it all. Georgia would be the favorite if they were included.

Yeah, if tu had played the same schedule as FSU's do you think they would've been left out. Hell no, they'd probably ended up being rated #1. This was a massive screw job.

Go Huskies, BTHO dildo waving idiots.

That's what happens when you have a "selection committee" in lieu of predetermined criteria.
The Top 6 ranked conference champions being auto bids starting next year will help solve part of the problem. Then they need to adopt a computerized ranking system to eliminate the committee in it's entirety.

Is it? What about SOS? Your comment is only valid for P5 only? Liberty is 13-0.

Unfortunately for FSU ACC teams weren't strong this year. Ranked in lower 25 and they didn't have to play ND, though ND lost to Louisville and Clemson.

That plus being on 3rd string QB added a lot of doubt they were the best 4 at the end of the season.

I doubt unilaterally opting out of more money will help their cause since just last year they were throwing a fit about too little money…but a national championship run could have been a ticket to more from a new conference.

No surprise they're pissed.

The contracts are signed. The money is already paid. Whether you watch or not, whether FSU or Bama is in, the powers that be get the exact same money.
