Dabo built his team on convincing guys to come there and play five years when they would normally play three to four at other schools. In return, he is very loyal to his players, and doesn't recruit guys to come in and short-circuit the process. In today's landscape, that message is harder and you miss out on guys that can be instant impacts due to the new NIL and transfer portal changes.

Dabo would be the absolute best we could do….Laughable to think Traylor and Elko are in that tier of coaches…..Klubnik(Aggie by birth ) would come too….That being said, Dabo isn't coming to Aggieland, we won't hit that home run

I would throw up in my mouth if we hired Dabo. He's just as stubborn as Jimbo and I wouldn't be surprised if he's peaked already and can't adjust to the NIL/portal era. It would be so Aggie of us to hire Dabo so we can make a "splash hire" and prove we aren't little brother.

No thanks. 5 years ago I would also agree that he's waiting in the wings for Bama but I don't think they'd hire him either now. He can obviously turn it around but I'm thinking it's unlikely he does.

Dabo is slow/ refusal to adapt to the NIL portal landscape of college football. When clemson was rolling they were on the cutting edge of facilities and player amenities for the student athlete. I've heard a lot of talking heads say that recruits dont care as much about that stuff and other top programs have all caught up in those areas.

Actually, there are a ton of rumblings coming out of Clemson this year and how Dabo has "lost it". Not sure if he is in a true hot seat, but they are not happy with him right now.

In the current nil/portal mode, kiffin or sanders is thw way.

Dabo is a big no. He is another coach that has proven he's not willing to adapt to the new landscape of college football. This would be just repeating the mistake we made in hiring Jimbo....HARD PASS.

Confound it we are otherwise using our resources in all the right ways except when it comes to coaches.

You would think the BMAs who presumably have experience with executive personnel decisions would ensure pay is tied to performance.

Instead we seem to enter Crazy Rich Aggie Mode (CRAM) and give blank checks to whoever.

Hey if Dabo is willing to accept a smaller buyout with the trade off of high upside for winning (as in conference titles and playoff appearances and wins) then sure.

Otherwise we're going to be doubling what we're paying name coaches to not coach here at the end of the decade.

Also with Dabo we have the potential for Mama Called 2.0 when Satan retires.

The best thing about the NIL/portal era is that the power to do this is more in the hands of the boosters than it is the athletic staff.

These know-it-all boosters think that they can run an athletic program, but they suck at it.

But, luckily for A&M, they are great at running for-profit organizations. NIL gives them something productive to do.

I think NIL will be successful program by program as opposed to coach by coach.

This is reality. I too have dreams of hiring some young barely-discovered coaching juggernaut for a good price before any other big program, but that is by far more risky. All said, I have no influence or control here so I'm just gonna eat my popcorn and watch what happens.

Lesson from Jimbo is to incentivize the performance you want.

This is not to say I think Jimbo didn't work hard and put in a lot of effort, but pay tied to performance tends to focus the mind on making the hard decisions that lead to success.

We can't count on 'he's a proven winner and professional blah blah' to drive success.

Gotta tie money to performance.

We just demonstrated the crazy amount of $ we have at this program for football.

Now let's use it in the right way. You win meaningful games here, you will be the richest MFer there is.

If I were a betting man, Dabo Swinney is actually who I would put my money in on to get the job.
