TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • It was not expected by a lot of people for Drelon Miller‍ to come to College Station. The Miller family loves A&M and College Station. They want to give A&M every chance for him to come play football here. I thought the Aggies did a good job. Who had a big day? Ainias Smith, the role they want Miller in. They showed a pulse offensively and showed it through Ainias Smith. Miller is also a punt returner.

  • I don't know if there is anything A&M could do that Miller would be back with A&M 100 percent. Now, I think he will take his time. He could go anywhere.

  • It surprised me and everybody in the current class that was on campus. Ashton Funk‍ didn't know. Myles Davis‍, Terry Bussey‍ and Dealyn Evans‍ were all shocked. After Miller decommited, everyone thought he was completely out because that is normal protocol. This is not the case. The Aggies have to give Drelon reasons to come to A&M.

  • They have to win games, and it has to look a certain way. Despite the first quarter, I think they did enough last weekend. They are also asking themselves what this offense would look like with Conner Weigman.

  • There is a massive opportunity this week. We have said it a lot, and unfortunately, A&M has come on the other side of it. Heading into 8-3 into LSU, I have talked to someone who knows a lot, they agreed with me when I said they can hold on to a lot of what they got. That means a top 10 class after 8-4. That is big, big, big.

  • Weston Davis‍ wasn't the only one hearing from other schools. Michigan was watching Funk the other night. I believe Funk is 100 percent locked in with A&M. It's interesting that a school in his top three was circling back.

  • I had heard from people in Katy that Coen Echols‍ visiting Auburn, but he made it sound like it was less concrete. He said if he did go, it would be to go to the Iron Bowl.

  • I asked Myles, Terry and Dealyn if they hear negative recruiting about A&M, and they say every day. If you hear things every day, at some level, it may chip away a little bit.

  • A&M lost Weston Davis, but they have lost only two. They have to win games and steady the ship. If you win on the road, that night game visitor list for Mississippi State could be really nice. It could have names of guys committed elsewhere.

  • It’s hard to quantify wins on the road and how much kids watch games on TV on Saturday. Two-thirds of the A&M commit list will watch. The result will be recruited upon for and against A&M. This could take the next step forward, or it will be a tough loss for A&M.

  • Hunter Andrews‍ is a kid out of Magnolia, and A&M offered last week. He is committed to Utah as a linebacker. The Magnolia coaching staff says he is the best athlete they have ever had. He plays running back there. A&M has looked at Andrews as a Max Wright role. I love the offer. The kid has family ties to A&M. He is going to Utah this week and then will probably be back for Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State. A&M has Eric Karner‍ committed, but he is a little different.

  • Running back is another position where we haven't seen new offers go out.

So we are having our 5 and high 4 star guys look elsewhere while we are praising 3 star recruits with limited offer list. Hello November

I'm honestly not sure it matters under this coaching staff.

We currently have a top 4 recruiting talent roster behind only Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State, yet we continue to perform like a team with Maryland level talent.

So what does another top 10 class matter?

These coaches clearly can't do anything with the talent. In fact, their schemes and lack of development seem to actually hinder it.

At this point, recruiting a 5 star or a 3 star really doesn't matter.

Our 3*'s seem to be our best performers. Just look at Anias, Coop and York.

Is anyone else confused by the 5th bullet? Are we essentially conceding the game to LSU already?
