Got mine in 83. Same story for most here, ordered it and not much fanfare when I picked it up. I dont remember the small no name building on the center of campus. I remember how heavy it felt on my skinny fingers. Put it on as I walked out and carried the box in my hand. Felt good to know the end of college was near. Life was about to change in a few months.

It was one of those periods of time in everyone's life that dies, and you can never go back. Life as a student was over and a working stiff was a new era ahead.

I had enough hours to get mine in second semester of junior year 1969. Picked up my ring at a small building near the Grove. Being in the Corps, I could not wear it on camps. I went to my dorm room, put on my ring and looked at it in the morrow. Went home for the weekend and gave to my gf, later my wife. She wore it on her necklace...not an unusual thing in these days. She is deceased. Several years ago, I had her diamond put in my Aggie ring...it's my most treasured possession.
Your story genuinely brought tears to our eyes. The journey of your Aggie ring, from that day in 1969 to now holding such a profound connection with your wife, is deeply touching. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's a beautiful reminder of the deep bonds and memories that life brings. Sending you warm thoughts. Gig'em
. American, thanks for your kind reply to my post. I edited to correct to 1959. In those days, a student could order a sweetheart pin, which was a ring crest with a fine chain with a class year pin. I ordered one and gave it to her. About eight years ago, I asked a jeweler to make a lapel pen of it. I wear it on my blazers and sport coats. Many have noticed and asked about it; and I tell them the story. The lapel pin is my second most treasured possession. '60 Gig 'Em

I watched my buddy dunk his ring in under 6 seconds and did not spill a drop, might have been more impressive than the k state game or watching Calzada beat bama!!!

'87 here. My Ring Day was like most in that time. I went to the Pavilion in Fall of 1986, picked it up, put it on, and went to class.

Even more memorable for me is my daughter who graduated this past Spring. I was proud to place her Aggie Ring on her finger around this time last year.

My son is a Junior at Galveston and I'm waiting patiently to be there for him as well.

Wow, that's some serious skill right there! Drinking a pitcher under 6 seconds is no small feat. It's always those unexpected moments with friends that become legendary stories. But hey, Calzada beating 'Bama is still up there on the list of epic moments! Hope we'll see Weigman beat'em this year. Gig'em!

It's amazing how times have changed. It must've been a heartwarming moment to pass on that legacy to your daughter, and soon, to your son. The Aggie family tradition is strong with y'all! Gig'em!

Class of 79 member here.

I think I received a letter in the mail that informed me that my ring was in. I stopped by the office that sent the letter and told them my ring had arrived. The lady walked over to a counter and picked up my ring and handed it to me. I said "thanks" and left. She returned to her Diet Coke.

I looked at it the other day and my ring had the name Lyle Lovett engraved in it. Wasn't that the guy that posted notes all over campus that he would be singing at the MSC Basement Coffee House that evening.

Whatever happened to him and I wonder if he has my ring? I wonder how his career as a Journalism major worked out.

This is a lie.

Diet Coke didn't come out until 1982.

Picked it up and left. There was no pomp and circumstance. Walked in got our rings and that was it.

Later that night we squeaked past TxState on a last minute Thursday night football game.

The next day hurricane Rita was a nothing burger for the region.
