OP, definitely not. I think we used him as much as we could in receiving. I mean look at the last 2 years.
2021-----------We had to replace 80% of our OL (all except Kenyon Green) and while trying to replace 4 out of 5 pieces on the OL, we had injuries early in the season as well. As the OL came together with some injured guys coming back and getting their timing and mesh down, we started utilizing his receiving abilities much more. He caught 24 balls in 12 games. So catching 2 balls per game but for almost 11 yds per catch.
2022--------We threw much more to him in 22 but as you may or may not know, we had a terrible OL coach that ran our OL into the ground and so his opportunities were very limited. I mean we threw more times as he had 36 catches but only averaged 5.4 per catch. Addazio was terrible with our OL and our OL was like swiss cheese and therefore, not much time to allow bigger plays coming out of the backfield so he was very limited. Then, add in the fact that most every team had at least 1 if not 2 guys keeping tabs on him as he was our biggest, most explosive threat.
Now, if Addazio hadn't done such a poor job coaching our OL and we were able to have time to let plays develop, there is no doubt IMM that King would have used him a ton and had long, explosive, game changing types of plays last year. If we had an OL, King probably wouldn't have ever lost his job and Weigman probably wouldn't have played as much as he did and helped him be ready to take the reigns this year. So, yeah, we would probably still have King coming back this year and our QB room would look totally different. I have always been a big fan of King since watching him back in HS but, I am extremely high on not just King but also MJ and his family. I can't tell how big of a fan I am of Weigman since I only live less than 10 minutes from his parents and watched him the last few years in HS. Dude is an absolute stud and I think people are really going to see it this year if Addazio can coach our OL to at least be a decent SEC caliber unit. If that happens, he is going to become and overnight household name. It's unfortunate for King and Achane for what Addazio did but they both moved on and are going to be just fine. We have so much talent left behind and have picked up good backup QBs with Reed and Henderson while allowing them to have time to develop. I am very happy with the way it worked out for our QB room and it appears Miami is going to be super happy with what they found in Achane. I wish him nothing but the best and I think he will tear it up in the NFL
GIG EM AGGIES!!!
