This Petrino hire will dictate Jimbo's legacy and the remainder of his cfb career just as we undergo the new look SEC, brought to you by sip.

The pot bangers that hope for Jimbo to fail are in turn wishing us to be in perpetual "next year" mode again as soon as sip joins while we scramble to hire a new hc who hasn't won a natty like jimbo.

Y'all wanted Jimbo to give up playcalling duties, well this is what that looks like. Now, I'm in the camp this thinks this hire might be just crazy enough to actually work, and y'all cane-shakers better hope it does too.

And make no mistake, this is lining up to be the most important game in our rivaled history. It is a monumental must win and we need to have a good season this year to ensure that happens. The only way to avoid this altogether is to go out there and catch everyone of guard and win the west, the sec championship, and the whole damn thing.

Like I said, the only way to make this first game not mean much of anything is by winning it all next year. Hell, winning the west could even do the trick.

But if you don't mind letting sip come back and run the show then you are that other type of fan that would fit in better with the wife-sharing sips.

Ok if it is happening in 2024 here are likely conference opponents in 2024 for us and tu:

Aggies home LSU, Georgia, tu, Ark, Kent
Aggies road: Auburn, Miss State, Vandy, Tenn

tu home: ou, Alabama, Miss, S Car
tu road: Texas Aggies, LSU, Florida, Ark , Mizzu

I think the 2 teams in Alabama will alternate hosting a team from Texas and playing the other on the road. Same with Florida and Georgia. I also think this is the end of tu-ou playing in Dallas. Neither can afford to have only 3 true home

Those on here that think sip is going to come to the SEC and "run the show" are delusional! Alabama/Georgia and sometimes even lsu run this show!

If Texas being expedited to SEC means the people in charge no longer will make excuses for Jimbo and lack of success then it will ultimately be for the better of the program. I'm not sure more time is going to be some great difference maker for Jimbo if he hasn't figured it 5 years in and seemingly regressing in more time.

The point was if Jimbo doesn't perform this season he'll be gone, Texas early entrance to the SEC could be a motivating factor. Not saying it is but if it helps the leaders from my only comparing about salary number that's a win for us as a program moving forward. Coaching carousel is risky business when you make bad decisions on the front end which looks to be the case with Jimbo 5 seasons in so far. Keeping him with expectations of winning conference titles and NCs which is obviously an expectation since he's already been given a future dated NC plaque just because he's owed a lot of money is the worse decision in the long term.

I think we way overblow the importance of having won a "natty." We want someone to win a natty here. Who cares what natty they won in the past somewhere else. I guess we could hire Coach O. He has won a natty. I personally wouldn't want him though.

I think it is still up in the air whether Jimbo has to "perform" this year or not. He still has a larger buyout than anyone has ever paid before to get rid of a coach. Another year like last year, pretty good chance he gets fired despite the insane buyout. 7-5 or 8-4, I expect he is probably still here. I think he deserves a chance this year because we had little choice with his buyout. If he didn't have that buyout, I would have been fine firing him for his 2021 and 2022 lack of success.

^^^^^^^^^This is the point. What he did at FSU with Jameis Winston is irrelevant especially after last season in year 5. And yes if we moved on Coach O, Bob stoops are coaches not currently coaching who have won NCs. And obviously Jimbo would have been gone if it not for a buyout from a ridiculous contract. There's no conspiracy because you can acknowledge those things.

tu vs the SEC is the proverbial irresistible force meeting the immovable object. If Texas does not end up controlling the SEC it will be the first time in their long history of domination by HOOK or crook. As I've said before on here, my prediction is that they will either infect and destroy their host or the host will vomit them out. There will be no peace until this happens. Sankey has already shown his colors by orchestrating their entry without telling us until it was too late to stop it.
