That's a really good point to bring up. If Texas being expedited to SEC means the people in charge no longer will make excuses for Jimbo and lack of success then it will ultimately be for the better of the program. I'm not sure more time is going to be some great difference maker for Jimbo if he hasn't figured it 5 years in and seemingly regressing in more time.

Best case scenario is that Jimbo does figure it out this season and has us firing in all cylinders in '24. The coaching carousel is not the way to go. Not sure why so many here want to see Jimbo fail just so that we can go back being in the same position that sip has been in the last decade+, firing a hc every handful of years.

Operating on best case scenarios is risky business. Better predictor would be previous years of sample size. Not so sure that favors Jimbo especially with context added. I haven't seen not one individual say they "want" Jimbo to fail. It's a fan board that's gets emotional and misguided whenever someone doesn't wear rose colored glasses and is objective about the program or even Jimbo. Based on expectations of win Jimbo was hired not having competed for conference title of NC has been very underwhelming.

I think your missing the point. If Jimbo doesn't perform again this season then he is gone. The coaching carousel is what's risky business. And if you want to talk about previous years and sample size since you clearly missed the '20 season, we won't be able to hire a new hc that has won a natty like Jimbo and has a resume that can stack up to his.

And if you haven't been able to tell, I'm being critical of Jimbo while also realizing that it is best to give him another chance. The game has changed a whole lot since Jimbo's arrival, he has next season to prove that he can adapt.

I think both Jimbo and Buzz left bad tastes in people's mouths which you never want during a "honeymoon" period. I would offer Jimbo isn't on the hot seat and shouldn't be. But that's a personal opinion.

He better have us ready for the first game after kicking 'sips ***. Our record in those games is TERRIBLE.

Hell no, please let the tu game be played in late September or early October. I like playing LSU on thanksgiving weekend and I hope it stays that way. We don't need to go back to the old days. It'd be like nothing changed in the 12 years we stopped playing those sh*ts.

I think we way overblow the importance of having won a "natty." We want someone to win a natty here. Who cares what natty they won in the past somewhere else. I guess we could hire Coach O. He has won a natty. I personally wouldn't want him though.

I think it is still up in the air whether Jimbo has to "perform" this year or not. He still has a larger buyout than anyone has ever paid before to get rid of a coach. Another year like last year, pretty good chance he gets fired despite the insane buyout. 7-5 or 8-4, I expect he is probably still here. I think he deserves a chance this year because we had little choice with his buyout. If he didn't have that buyout, I would have been fine firing him for his 2021 and 2022 lack of success.

I wasn't trying to be emotional. I've been told that another season near .500 and Jimbo's job is in jeopardy. Context will matter, as in who we beat or lose to, but 7-5 l, IMO, doesn't guarantee his return. I am a bit concerned about the upcoming season because the roster turnover isn't ideal for building/correcting from last year...we'll see...

You also would have thought it would have benefited tu more playing in the bdf but it didn't. But you're probably right about it benefitting tu more. Personally I think they're both in for a rude awakening.
