I believe the OP is 100% correct.

I am really excited about this hire. I expect there was a come-to-Jesus conversation and contractual protections for the university should any tomfoolery occur. That said, I don't think it'll be a problem.

Hopefully, Durkin can get the defense firing on all cylinders. If so, I think this really could be another year like 2020 with only 1 loss. If it were a close loss by say Bama or UT, I think we are in the CFP this time.

What excites me the most is the fact that he has never had close to the amount of across the board talent to work with. I bet he is foaming at the mouth.

The only thing that continues to disappoint me is that the same Ags are *****ing. It would have happened with these folks regardless of who was hired. It seems like they are mostly the same people that are always crying.

He doesn't appear to have been forced out at Mizzou State. So, he left either wanting a FBS OC-type position or he felt like the heat was going to get turned up. Perhaps there was some other reason -- maybe sinister, maybe not. But the bottom line is that the best he could get was UNLV. Surely, that wasn't the only position open.

Something just doesn't add up here.

I think that is the benefit of this hire over an up and coming type coach. Petrino has an ego, level of experience, and personality that would not let himself not have a reasonable level of control.

Jimbo has hitched his aggie future to Petrino. 2 years from now the Jimbo buyout talk on here will be the main topic.

Next, Zoobers will begin considering all the recent skill position commitments and if Bobby might have been the reason.

I don't worry about any football issues. I thought they should hire someone to worry about all that stuff, and they did.

i know the majority seem upset because they feel there were hotter prospects available. but, i actually like this hire. he's not the head coach. he's the OC and he's got a great offensive mind that's adapted over the years to the players he had.

Can it really get any worse the jimbo's offense ?

I'd really like to know what happened behind the scenes when he was a target for us, and ended up signing with a different school. Then broke that contract to sign with us.

I'm sure we would've been the higher bidder, which leads me to believe that he didn't have an offer from us a month or so ago.

I have my suspicions of events but would really like to know.

I don't give a s**t about his marriage and him banging hot chicks on a motorcycle...HOW ARE HIS OFFENSES!?!?!

Well everyone is complaining about character issues with players but we are hiring coaches with a track record of character issues at a fast pace. What could go wrong?

I think Petrino will be a short-term hire for us. I think he will be successful. If he's successful, he will end up as a HC somewhere else in short order. Sadly, successful programs have this problem.

Correct. Bama has/will have this problem in perpetuity. See Saban's hires and track record. Even if he is here for 2 years and delivers 10 and 11 win seasons then we will call it a success and able to identify the replacement if need be.
