Not my fault you picked the wrong A&M sport to support.

Would this be the first Big 12 team to win a playoff game?

TCU showed that playing in a weak conference is sometimes better than playing in a tough one.
the Frogs played a mediocre schedule, but the committee loves P5 teams with gaudy records.
TCU got 2 big breaks when Alabama and Tennessee got their 2nd losses.
then Michigan made numerous far-end-of-the-bell-curve mistakes at the goal line...and TCU was there to take advantage.
sometimes you win by just letting your opponent make dumb mistakes
No they didn't. They've lost in the semifinals all 4 timesdeer corn said:LB12Diamond said:

No. OU won one in the earlier years of the playoff and then lost.

Put TCU in the SEC and they have a minimum of 3-4 losses. They're gonna get thumped by Georgia. TCU is nowhere near as good as tOSU and Georgia won't spot them 21 points.
Do you think those coaches at A&M would have similar results? If not then what do we need to change? The last three coaches at LSU have won a national championship and USC is a blueblood. It is really impressive what Heupal and Kirby have done to turn their programs around so quickly.Quote:
Let's not exclude the job that Josh Heupal has done at Tennessee in 2 years, the job Kirby Smart did in two years at Georgia, Lincoln Riley in his first year at USC, not to mention Brian Kelly in his first year at LSU...Jimbo Fisher takes 5 years to take this program to embarrassing.
Texas A&M is where coaches come to retire...plain and simple.
So you're just going to pretend that 2020 season didn't happen? Or are you going with the tired old excuse that it was a Covid season (as if no other programs had to contend with that as well) so it doesn't count?jmsrz said:

All of that is true but to not acknowledge 2020 seems a bit disingenuous. Can't win the west when your lone loss is to the team that did. And a solid case can be made that A&M was screwed by the playoff committee that season.BigDave21 said:
That was 2 years ago and we have been meh sincez We didn't even win the west, the sec, or make the playoff in 2020. Good to get a NY6 Bowl win but we didn't take a next step

Everyone talks about recruiting, but the other x-factor in making strong teams is having experienced upperclassmen. TCU has the latter
Whatever it is that Dykes and TCU have, they have it in abundance.Barnacle said:AgLaw02 said:

And coaching...and roster management to encourage upper classmen to return.
