Traylor is hinting at the same point Jimbo and Buzz have pointed to. If there is any contact prior to the athlete entering the portal that is against the spirit of the rules and smells like tampering.
Worst yet: the advisor the athlete is permitted to retain for NIL deals has a strong interest in discovering deals that flow money to the athlete and therefore to the advisor's business. So there is a natural conflict of interest that pushes advisors towards involvement as agents in school choice decisions.
I've said it a million times on this board. We are not playing by the same rules as our opponents. Its not just the sips. Its our own conference mates Brian Kelly and Lane Kiffin as well.
How does Brian Kelly win in year 1? He uses the ENTIRE University of Louisiana system as a farm system for LSU.
Lane is just outright, unapologetically playing free agency.
Even if outright tampering isn't happening the way you say it does, the current players are recruiting each other. Even with no coach or player contact, I can't see why anyone good with an offer to get out would stay in the group of 5 or certainly the FCS.
