I was not going to stress over the calculations that recruiting websites use to evaluate a class, but a texter texted the show today saying A&M would still be #3 after the portal guys we have lost, and the hosts just ran with it. This is not true at all, at least by 247 metrics the 6 guys we have lost account for almost 70 out of the 333 point class. For what it's worth, even after taking other team's 2022 attrition into account, that would drop us down to 9th. Two of these guys would have been starting next year, and several others would be solid rotation pieces playing significant snaps.
That leaves us with a good class and one A&M can be happy with, but far from the all-time class we were celebrating. I don't understand just shrugging off the losses and pretending it is still an elite class.
EDIT: I've been corrected on how the 247 calculator actually works, apologies to the random texter and the radio guys
