So we have 24 in the portal, 13 seniors, and 2 leaving early. That's 39 players. Let's say we get lucky and only have one more portal in the spring we have to replace 40 scholarship players. Right now we have 13 commits 4 days before early signing. So we have to find 27 more players in a combo of the portal and late signing. And that assumes we don't lose anyone of the 13. I'm not sure about Hicks and Oregon. I just don't see how we get more than 20 decent players and that may be a stretch. Depth, people to play special teams, scout team is all going to be strained. It's crazy honestly.

You bring up some good points but we are in a new era. The portal is going to be HUGE with more kids than ever looking for a new home.

Just because they're testing the portal does not mean they're gone.
Like a job search while gainfully employed. Sometimes the other company doesn't offer enough money, sometimes you realize you have a better deal where you are and decide to stay.
This portal crap is going to be an interesting ride. All new uncharted territory.

You're right, it's not sinking. It's just going to be adrift with no one steering it.

So, 40 new players are going to enter the Jimbo system and process and be ready to play by next fall. I have trouble with that after watching Haynes King in his third year. This coaching staff was built for recruiting.

I don't know about a title, but I think we have a real shot at making the Helen's Emporium of Kitchen Appliances and Award Winning Bar-B-Q Presented by Meemaw & Peepaw Bowl.

So, the same staff that recruited the 39-40 player that are leaving, suddenly knows how to replace those with 40 in one recruiting season! I thought there was a limit on the combination of portal and signees? Somewhere in the low to mid 30's. I may be wrong on that.

Only limit is the 85 total now, I believe.

I have a philanthropist philosophy about this. The ship is at the bottom of the ocean and is providing a great habitat for ocean life creatures big and small. Be proud because we are a sea grant school too.

Exactly which title are you talking about?

Did fran get into the lifeboat with the kids and women? How long do we need to tread feezing water?

I guess op is right. It isn't actively sinking. It sunk this year and won't float again for another 9 months.

It would make it easier to push back into the water

to have a top 15 rank recruiting class after a year like that, with your coach retained, I say thats a win. Now we just need 5 plus 3-5 star players from the portal for our defense

That's good and all but until I see the coaching staff development that talent and win games it's just half the ingredient as of now.
