Can't believe this is the first time this game has ever gone into OT. Excellent game by both teams.
To 1,000,000 touchdowns ...and beyond

What is the NASA connection to Navy?

A whole bunch of astronauts came from Navy ranks, I think almost all of the first class were Navy guys.

BEAT Navy!!

Yea, I know John Glenn and others but would think they draw from all forces. Maybe it is an homage to the Gemini/Apollo days.

Navy got screwed on that fumble call

Lol that was clearly a fumble. The ball was at his feet when he finally came down.

It was supposed to be a tribute to the 54 Annapolis grads that became NASA astronauts, since they have the most of any school.

Yes, McCandless is on the helmet, but the entire uniform is not about him.

"No University has more NASA astronauts than the United States Naval Academy. This is how we honor them."

Looked like his forearm was down before the ball came loose

Lol it was not. You could see the Army defender swat for it before he came down. Then the overhead shot showed the ball at his feet when his elbow and shoulder came down. The ball did not get from his forearm to his feet that fast.

As much as I wanted Navy to win, it was very clearly a fumble.

I had Chat-gbt write a poem...

The Army-Navy game,
A rivalry like no other,
Two teams on the field,
Fighting for victory,

The cheers from the crowd,
Rise up to the sky,
Each side wants to win,
And claim the title,

But in the end,
It's the Army that prevails,
In a thrilling overtime,
They claim the win,

The Navy may be disappointed,
But they fought with honor,
And they'll be back next year,
To give it another try.

So congratulations, Army,
On a hard-fought victory,
In the Army-Navy game,
You proved you're the best of the best.

"the" Army didn't win and "the" Navy didn't lose.

It's amazing to me how many people don't know the difference between the services and the service academies.

Agreed, the "the" doesn't belong for either academy. However, a person didn't write the poem, it's an AI engine... it failed, at least on that account.

My grandpa served in Army in WW2. This was the one football game he bothered to watch every year. 25 years later I still Remember sitting on the floor (in the days when kids were the remote) and watching it with him and my brothers and seeing him tear up at the start of the game. It meant a lot to him. He loved this country and what it allowed him and his family to achieve. It is the one game a year I "make" my kids come downstairs and watch the walk in and the prayer and the first quarter. I try to explain what this game means the best I can.

Lol anyone who has ever watched the game knows this. But they always have and are just referred to as "Army" and "Navy" - it's simpler to say.

It's also amazing to me how many people feel then need to make this correction as if it's something revolutionary. This is the equivalent of correcting someone that Ole Miss isn't actually "Ole Miss" and is the University of Mississippi instead.

Even more amazing than you feeling the need to post this?

And navy fired its coach. He's a good dude, could have left there multiple times for bigger paydays but was loyal to the school.

Coach Ken is a class act. He'll be back as a HC somewhere eventually.

Fired right after the game.

"Hey, you just lost in double OT to Army to miss out on being bowl eligible...you're gone"

2-5 against Army in last 7; 2-5 against Navy.

But it sounds like some pretty rough circumstances since COVID.

The only team to not have players granted an extra year of eligibility, nor can they red-shirt.
Share indoor practice facilities with gymnastics, often requiring them to practice in poor conditions.

Wish him the best of luck, but the next guy better beat Army.

I struggle to believe they will bring someone in that does better unless the circumstances even out which maybe they will. I think this was a mistake. He was a good coach. Good graduation record *strike this point to not offend*. Led the program with class. Hope he lands somewhere soon.

The graduation record at Navy isn't due to the head coach, I can assure you that.

Not a lot of half assers that commit to the service academies. And no exceptions for academics. They have a bunch of smart, disciplined kids who are willing to sacrifice heavily to achieve. And some of them happen to play football

Sorry for mentioning that point. Please strike. Did not meant to give you heartburn.

Definitely not because of the sports coaches, but most of them genuinely care

Jeff Monken and whatever the basketball coach's name was came and sat in one of my classes when I had more than one player in a section. The hockey coach would come sit in on tutoring groups I'd do in their practice facility. The track would email asking how his kids were doing in class every time grades were due (week 6, 10, and 15 of each semester)

Did people actually say great game? I tried to watch it. I have seen more entertaining high school games.
