I think you know the answer, or else you wouldn't have proposed the question

Is this a trick question?

TCU has 12 10-win seasons since 2000, went undefeated and won the Rose Bowl in 2010, has been ranked in the top 25 to end the year 11 times, has finished in the top 10 6 times since 2008 and finished #2 in the country in 2010 and #3 in the country in 2014.

Also their best QB of the past 20 years worked his ass off to have a really solid NFL career while our best QB of the last 20 years partied his ass off and lost every chance he had to play in the NFL.

We WISH we were TCU

We are 1-0 vs TCU since 2000. We also haven't lost to them since 1973 I believe. 28 straight wins.

All that is true but our 2nd best QB has scratched out a better NFL career than their best.

Tannehill?

I don't know. Tannehill has had a comparable NFL career to Dalton, but nothing about it sticks out as being better.

Agree. They are no other options tho.

Maybe it's recency bias but I would think Tannehill has had the better career. He is the entrenched starter on a perennial playoff team while Dalton seems to have settled into the journeyman role.

Calling him an A & M product is a super stretch. Kyle Allen as well.

Fwiw I'd say Dalton and Tannehill are about even.

Like t.u. claiming their QB is the Pac 12 champ.

TCU has done great with their resources.

We have consistently underperformed.

Still wouldn't want to be them, but their program has been (is?) better.

Tannehill has reached the AFC Title game. Dalton has never won a playoff game and has only recently returned to being a starter after falling down to a backup role.

Comparing the 2 programs are apples & oranges. TCU wasn't in a P5 conference until 2012 and it's been made clear on here that the Big 12 isn't on par with the SEC.

But TCU has had some great moments during those years that A&M hasn't (Rose Bowl win, 12-0 season & #3 ranking).

So you wouldn't want the season where TCU went undefeated, pujnched JJ Watt and Wisconsin in the mouth in the Rose Bowl, and was ranked #2 in the country? Our 9-4 season that ended getting slaughtered by LSU in the Cotton Bowl was better?

The thing is, they never had an opportunity to even compete for a national title. Multiple seasons started for them with no hope of winning one. Don't really wanna be in that boat. The best they could hope for was finished #2.

They racked up a lot of wins against bad teams from 2000-2012. They also lost to a lot of bad teams (inculding Northwestern State, Wyoming x2, etc.)

Well mission accomplished because we'll never be in that boat because we suck at football.

Tannehill has a much better agent

Tannehill - 11 seasons $168.9 million career earnings
Dalton - 12 seasons $ 99.6 million career earnings

OTOH, their best RB has outpaced any of our RBs in the NFL. LT is #7 all time in rushing yardage.

When we were in that conference, it had multiple national title winners and many other competitors.

The Big XII TCU has been in is not the same.

Neither of us have won a national title this century.... We're in the same boat where it matters.

They racked up a lot of wins against C-USA and the Mountain West, though! And a watered down Big XII! We should strive to be them!

Deer Corn just posted the only stat that really matters. Although I wouldn't trade 2012 or 2020 for any of TCUs high school football schedule success stories. We may not have the SEC or National titles yet, but we play big boy football and wins are hard earned.
