The reason for the 2 pt conversion is protecting against A&M getting a FG. The three 2 pt conversions give you the 3 points to match instead of needing a 4th possession

Nerd. But for real, don't think it's fair to say higher chance to win down 13 vs 14 but ignore the odd delta being down 15 vs 14……

If A&M held on to the ball long enough to kick a FG, there wouldn't be enough time for LSU to get that many possessions.
