Sure he's washed up as a HC, but he's a pretty damn good OC and would help in bringing in top assistants.
Can you see Jimbo turning over the keys to Mullen?Quote:

Given our history of "homerun" hires I'm not sure this is the stellar point that you had hoped it would be.85AustinAg said:
Mullen would be a homerun hire so I guess I can see why some TexAgs posters don't like him.

Dan Mullen appears to be trying to stay in good standing in the coaching fraternity, and during a recent interview on ESPNU Radio on Sirius XM, the former Florida and Mississippi State coach came to the defense of Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher.
Mullen pointed out that Fisher has had 6 seasons of at least 10 wins, along with a 9-1 mark 2 years ago.
"The one thing everyone ought to remember, if you sign the No. 1 recruiting class doesn't mean you're going to be a great team," Mullen said. "It means you have really good young talent that needs to be developed over the next couple of years and we've got to wait for those guys to go play."
Mullen then said to set aside Fisher's contract, which was a win for agent Jimmy Sexton, and the end of the Florida State tenure was not good.
"He's won, and he's won consistently, has a pretty good career record," Mullen said. "Now the problem is he's being judged on show up to Texas A&M, beat Alabama, become Alabama and win national championships and that hasn't happened yet."
Mullen added that the Aggies need to get on the same page and support Fisher, and add a second strong recruiting class because "when he's had good players, he's won."
"Stop negativity, try to create some positivity, I think they can get it turned around," he said.
Mullen added that Fisher must be adaptable and adjust his system.
"I have to evolve with it," Mullen said. "IF they can all get there, I think there's a path to success for Texas A&M."

Point of order: we can't actually force Jimbo to do anything he doesn't want to do.Dr RC said:85AustinAg said:

You mean like the past home run hires of DJ Durkin, Kevin Sumlin, Jon Chavis, Jake Spavital, and the QB whisper/offensive guru Jimbo Fisher whose offense is so bad we're forcing him to hire an OC?

For some reason I don't see Jimbo and Mullen getting along very well.

Doubt Mullen and Jimbo would get along. Mullen is kind of a know it all.
He never really interviewed well for jobs.
