For some reason I don't see Jimbo and Mullen getting along very well.

My thoughts on Dan Mullen are few: 1) Got runnoft from Florida way too soon and 2) Don't really care for him on TV.

Mixed feelings. Outside of Dak Prescott's junior and senior seasons, Miss St never had an offense that ranked above #5 in the SEC. They were always just OK. Maybe that's an accomplishment considering it's Miss St.

At Florida he immediately revived a truly terrible Florida offense, so he gets credit there. But Mullen's personality just seems to wear on people over time. Florida's offense was still decent statistically in his final season, but it was inconsistent and his players gave up on him en masse.

Not to mention he hates recruiting, and hasn't been a true OC since 2011. You can see how the offensive game has passed Jimbo by over the last 10 years. You wonder if it might be the same with Mullen.

Hard pass. We can do better

How about we hire a current position coach rather than someone that performed the duty many years ago before they were fired from HC.

My thoughts of Dan Mullen:

Mullen has a great offensive mind. Always had good offenses at UF and MSU. Some of you guys have no clue. He and Jimbo know each other and have a mutual respect. Do some research on Mullen showing support for Jimbo recently and you'll understand. Mullen's Offensive success in the SEC is a plus, plus. You don't have to like him he'd be the OC. He's #1 on my list.

He only recruits during recruiting season.

Dan Mullen would be a great hire as an offensive coordinator. He even came to the defense of Jimbo Fisher. Mullen pointed out that Fisher has had 6 seasons of at least 10 wins, along with a 9-1 mark 2 years ago.

"The one thing everyone ought to remember, if you sign the No. 1 recruiting class doesn't mean you're going to be a great team," Mullen said. "It means you have really good young talent that needs to be developed over the next couple of years and we've got to wait for those guys to go play."

Mullen then said to set aside Fisher's contract, which was a win for agent Jimmy Sexton, and the end of the Florida State tenure was not good.

"He's won, and he's won consistently, has a pretty good career record," Mullen said. "Now the problem is he's being judged on show up to Texas A&M, beat Alabama, become Alabama and win national championships and that hasn't happened yet."

We've tried the washed-up former HC with Durkin and Addazio. No thank you. I want someone who is currently (and successfully) calling plays somewhere

Dan Mullen will sooner end up at the Saban rehab school than he will come here as an OC.

You forgot a few stops. He was the OC under Urban Meyer at Utah and Florda. Coached NFL QB Alex Smith and Tim Tebow at Florida a heisman trophy winner.

He would be a homerun. A young guy can't stand up to Jimbo like Mullen can

More recently Dan developed Kyle Trask from a low 3 star recruit into a second round NFL draft pick.

Loved the 2020 O at Florida. I'm still shocked he didn't make it at Florida. Seemed like a perfect fit.

Given our history of "homerun" hires I'm not sure this is the stellar point that you had hoped it would be.

You mean like the past home run hires of DJ Durkin, Kevin Sumlin, Jon Chavis, Jake Spavital, and the QB whisper/offensive guru Jimbo Fisher whose offense is so bad we're forcing him to hire an OC?

With the perception of jimbo being on the hot seat going forward plus his love of running an offense, it may be tougher for us to grab a hot-shot oc than people think, so a guy like Mullen might be the way that jimbo has to go

I don't care if they get along. They're not FWBs. They're v coaches paid to do a job. If the win, they'll get along a lot better since they'll both benefit. And the fans will be happier, too. Just win, baby. Just win.

Mullen knows offensive football. The way he actually pucks plays apart and explains them while games are ongoing is infinitely better than the mindless drivel we hear from other announcers. AND it also shows that he's ability to ADJUST real time … something that has been painfully obvious and absent on either side of the ball in the current program.

Why did he not ADJUST his attention to recruiting, when it was obviously going south?
