I am surprised there isn't more TexAgs venom being thrown D.J. Gerkin's way. We have the talent on defense but our scheme isnt working. We give up 200+ rushing per game and fail to adapt whatsoever.
I am always wrong

For the most part, we've held other offenses to winnable scores.....

....with almost zero help from our own offense.

I'm as critical as possible against every aspect of Aggie football this year, but a first year DC working with a really inexperienced group is way down the list of problematic issues. I'm confident we'll see an improved unit next year. Hell I remember people jumping all over our lord and savior Mike Elko in his first year here.

Unbelievable how much talent was recruited on defense and that with all of that talent we are giving by up 200 yards on the ground.

It's unbelievable.

That's not going to win a National title. Ever.

Our offensive has no OL coach and no OC AND limited talent. That's why they are terrible.

Kinda hard to notice your mediocre DC, when your OC is one of the worst in the country.

durkin has been disappointing, not as disappointing as the offense but absolutely a disappointment. philosophically he hasn't done a good job adjusting his scheme to the talent on our team. that's pretty obvious. much like our head coach has done as OC. on a 3-7 team that was pre season number 6 in the nation plenty of blame to go around.

Yeah, there's something about having a historically bad season and wanting to see positive changes that has some of us kind of riled up. But please do share some of the sunshine with us, I would love to hear how we should be happy with our football right now

Scoring Defense is top 20 in the country.

The rushing defense is an issue.

But a "better than average overall defense" is not something to ***** about when our offense under our Offensive GURU HC can't be expected to score more than 2 TD's a game.

Almost every game has been winnable based on how well the defense played.

Imagine thinking Durkin has done Ok this year and isn't a problem. It's ridiculous how so many of you on here take up for Durkin. He has been pathetic this year regardless of how putrid the offense has been.

I knew our offense would probably struggle this year. New QB, Spiller and Green gone, top playmaker gets hurt and out for the year. However, I thought our defense would be lights out this year. A bunch of playmakers on that side of the ball. And yet teams like Troy have actually played much better defense against common opponents than A&M has. That can't happen.

You have to be related to Durkin. Always saying how great the defense has done this year and always posting wrong stats to support your claim.

I see they are ranked 39th in scoring defense. Where are you getting 20 from? Rushing defense ranked 126 and a host of other defensive rankings at the bottom.

Every game winnable is laughable. Heck if A&M defense just plays as good as Troy's did against Ole Miss we win that game easily. Considering the talent we have, the defense has been beyond awful. Let a terrible South Carolina team march down the field and score at the end to lose that game. Let a terrible App State team control the ball the entire game. The defense has been terrible.

It is hard to stop the run with only 3 guys up front and no LB. Durkin should have just focused on stopping the run no matter what against ole miss. He played soft and we got scorched on the ground. He sucks. The End!

Our run defense has dropped to 126th, allowing 220.6 rushing yards per game. In the last 3 games, we allowed 390 rushing yards to Ole Miss, 291 rushing yards to Florida, and 270 rushing yards to Auburn. Despite having one of the nation's worst run defense, our scoring defense ranks 39th, allowing 22.20 points per game. Defensive coodinator DJ Durkin has been disappointing, but not as diappointing as the offense. Dating back to a 20-3 win over Auburn on 11/6/21, we have not scored 30+ points in 12 consecutive games against FBS teams.

A&M's scoring defense is 39th in the country at 22.9 pts/gm.

If we had a real offense that could do better than 5 three and outs to start every second half, IMO they'd be top 20.

I get we all have a very bad case of BAS this fall, but the over the top criticism of Durkin is borderline neurotic.

Now Jimbo has this issue too, don't get me wrong. Probably why he lets Jerkin Durkin keep doing it.

Our run defense is more than enough for me to consider a change at DC. Even if the offense is fixed, we can't be successful with a run defense like Durkin has shown.

The pathetic thing about the run defense in the last three games is that most stops we've gotten have been because the opposing team stopped running the ball.

I totally disagree that our defense would be ranked higher if we had a good offense. Just the reverse would be true. Right now the offense is so bad the opposing team usually has the lead and no real threat to losing the game so they can just milk the clock.

After the horrendous start against South Carolina we get back in the game and it looks winnable. The defense promptly lets South Carolina march right down the field with a long scoring drive causing us to lose the game. We get close to Ole Miss and the same thing happened. Any time an opposing team felt threatened they easily ran the ball and scored against us.

Considering the talent that A&M has, the defense has been atrocious this year.

Pass D (when healthy) is and was a huge strength for us this year. By A&M putting up points and possibly even taking the lead, teams can't just run all day and would have to pass into our strength. It's asinine to think the defense would be worse if we had a good offense.

It's assinine to think the defense has been good and/or is not a problem.

So you are saying we have to be up multiple scores or with a lead late in the game for our good pass defense to take over. Because if the other team has time they can easily run the ball against us.

I believe A&M on pace to have one of the worst rush defenses (per game rush avg) in the entire history of A&M football. And this is coming off a solid year last year and a class that brought in a bunch of great young talent.

How in the world can you think Durkin is not a problem????

Yes, we all know the offense has been terrible but the defense, considering the talent we have, has been almost as bad. When teams like Troy do much better defensively against Ole Miss than A&M does, that is a major problem!
