Here are a few that I think we should consider and be working on hiring.

1. UCF - Gus Malzhan or Chip Lindsey (current top 10 offense)
2. Wake Forrest Warren Ruggiero (OC/QB's)
3. Utah Andy Ludwig (OC/QB's) (Highly doubt he leaves Utah)

If he doesn't hire an OC and good OL coach, we can expect more of the same.

Gus Balsack ain't gonna leave to be an OC for a guy at a middling program that won't let him call plays when odds are he'll get offered the Miami job.

I'd hire Malzahn as head coach! He used a DB as QB and took Auburn to the national title game. We have 3 top ranked QBs and bout to go 4-8

There isn't a single oc worth anything coming to A&M to join this clown show.

I doubt seriously the push to force Jimbo to give up the assignment of duties will succeed. The only leverage we have is buying out his contract. So he will have to envision the change that he offers and works with Bjork (and TMF) to select personnel to fulfill it. I imagine he will want to make some kind of organizational change just to deal with the shortcomings of the offense and to deal with the political pressure.

He has mentioned the possibility in at least one public appearance. His purpose in doing so isn't crystal clear though at face value it seems likely he is seriously considering handing over play calling.

It is a HUGE mistake to believe he schemed poorly through last year. He was protecting the defense with a more balanced offense and definitely wants to have a solid run game. It had the effect of killing two birds with one stone; run plays pull in the secondary AND shorten the game.

How many times have we seen posters fuss about Sherman and then Sumlin failing to mix in enough runs especially when ahead??? So fussing at Jimbo for making things work (or worse yet being supportive of Mond when Mond was peaking for us in 2020) strikes me as literally just complaining at everyone for anything they do. I don't understand the impetus to be a complaining fan base. It isn't like fans control outcomes…just inputs.

Then no one will take the because historically we've been a middling program- i.e. we are a .600 winning percentage all time.

The most important thing is that the OC hire is someone who Jimbo trusts and can hand over all of the playcalling duties to.

I'm not optimistic about an OC hire and even if we did I'm skeptical that it will lead to much of a change. I think we would be better off committing whole heartedly to one system or the other rather than half-ass adding spread concepts to a Fisher's pro-style offense. Fixing the OL coaching situation will yield more results...if we can't block it doesn't matter what we run.

Why not Riley's little brother from TCU. He lit us up. A&M is definitely not a lateral move

The one thing in coaching that Jimbo loves the most is the challenge of going one on one against the other team's DC. He will retire from coaching before he quits calling the plays. While many wish he would retire now, how has his coaching changed in the last three months after we won in a bidding war with LSU to keep his services and we were proud to do so? The biggest change I see is an unexpected loss of some experienced players due to medical reasons (QB, OL and WR) and inexperienced starters who are not ready to play. Two of the reasons we have been successful in recruiting is our pro-style offense and having an OC that doesn't change every year or two like most of the bigger schools. I believe we will be back on the road to success after Jimbo gets rid of the players who have not bought in and adds several experienced players from the Transfer Portal. The key in my humble opinion is keeping Connor Weigman. He needs to get as much playing time as possible this year even if he has to run for his life each snap.

Just let Dickey do the play calling. He didn't do too bad at Memphis

This, no coaching changes are necessary(except for maybe OL). Dickey had the country's top offense at Memphis, just hand him the playbook and let him run it.

Is it possible that this is Dickey's Offense, but that Jimb is calling plays from it?

You'd think it'd be ironed out by now, but maybe ol' Jimb sees something based on personnel each year. Hence, the disjointedness?

That's been my feeling all along.

I think part of it is Dickey's (spread looks) and part is Fishers and it's disjointed as a result. We need focus.

Is that the same Mike Shanahan who was OC for the Forty-Niners, HC for Denver when they finally won the Super Bowl, and father of the current 49er HC?

Or just a weird name coincidence?

Also maybe worth a look, the current OC for Oregon (No idea what his name is). I saw some of the Oregon-UCLA game Saturday, and if he can get Bo Nix playing like that...

Its extremely frustrating how close we are to being in that upper echelon of teams. We clearly have the talent. I truly believe we are just a competent OC and a new oline coach away from taking that next step

We just have to hope that Jimbo sees the same thing….although i highly doubt he does

It's not about leverage. He's thinking more about his reputation as a coach. He knows it's in jeopardy. THAT'S way more important to him than calling plays.
