Then no one will take the because historically we've been a middling program- i.e. we are a .600 winning percentage all time.
I don't want malzahn. I didn't like his offense.cords12 said:
I'd hire Malzahn as head coach! He used a DB as QB and took Auburn to the national title game. We have 3 top ranked QBs and bout to go 4-8
Just because they beat us doesn't mean there offense is any good. App St is 4-3JFABNRGR said:
I would gladly take the crew from Ap State.
Nah. You want him to think that. But he doesn't. That he expressed aloud that he was thinking about it is the paltry hat hook on the tiny hat stand that all this noise is about. I certainly agree it's easier to exit on his own terms if he solves the offense. And that likely happens next year assuming more oline experience and depth. Which isn't solved with a new OC unless he brings people. There ain't one that can do that.Eagle78 said:greg.w.h said:
I doubt seriously the push to force Jimbo to give up the assignment of duties will succeed. The only leverage we have is buying out his contract. So he will have to envision the change that he offers and works with Bjork (and TMF) to select personnel to fulfill it. I imagine he will want to make some kind of organizational change just to deal with the shortcomings of the offense and to deal with the political pressure.
He has mentioned the possibility in at least one public appearance. His purpose in doing so isn't crystal clear though at face value it seems likely he is seriously considering handing over play calling.
It is a HUGE mistake to believe he schemed poorly through last year. He was protecting the defense with a more balanced offense and definitely wants to have a solid run game. It had the effect of killing two birds with one stone; run plays pull in the secondary AND shorten the game.
How many times have we seen posters fuss about Sherman and then Sumlin failing to mix in enough runs especially when ahead??? So fussing at Jimbo for making things work (or worse yet being supportive of Mond when Mond was peaking for us in 2020) strikes me as literally just complaining at everyone for anything they do. I don't understand the impetus to be a complaining fan base. It isn't like fans control outcomes…just inputs.
It's not about leverage. He's thinking more about his reputation as a coach. He knows it's in jeopardy. THAT'S way more important to him than calling plays.
