Plummeting 18 spots in last week’s Associated Press Top 25, Jimbo Fisher and the Fightin’ Texas Aggies are now ranked No. 23 following a redeeming 17-9 win over then-No. 13 Miami at Kyle Field.

The Maroon & White are also ranked No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Southeastern Conference maintains its position as the best-represented league in this week’s poll, with eight teams holding spots, four of which are in the top 10. Alabama and Georgia remain in a contentious battle for first as the Bulldogs held onto the top spot following a 48-7 drubbing of South Carolina in Columbia.

In addition to the Aggies and Hurricanes, only one other top-25 showdown took place this past weekend as No. 20 Oregon defeated twelfth-ranked BYU, 41-20, behind quarterback Bo Nix’s five touchdowns. The upset victory boosted the Ducks ten spots in this week’s poll to No. 15.

Penn State rose eight spots to No. 14 after a 41-12 bludgeoning of Auburn on the road, while a 39-28 loss to Washington pushed Michigan State out of the rankings.

Ranked matchups for this week’s slate of games include No. 4 Clemson at No. 21 Wake Forest and No. 20 Florida at No. 11 Tennessee. The Aggies find themselves in another ranked tilt for the second consecutive weekend as they face No. 10 Arkansas in the 2022 Southwest Classic in Arlington. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

Right where we belong. We'll have plenty of opportunity to earn a higher ranking.

They held their own against the number one team in the nation.
I think that's fair.
