I put ZERO value in this but I do like good comedy when I see it....

ESPN has the sips with 13% likelihood to make the playoffs and the Good Guys at 2%. I know there are dozens of factors involved in that, but seems pretty ignorant or its just the mothership pandering to the masses.

Either way....stupid and funny.

ESPN has to continue to prop up their investment. While more credible sources are expecting them to finish no better than 7-5.

Any of ESPN's predictors shouldn't be taken seriously.

Their Cy Young predictors last year had the eventual AL CY finishing 5th, and the eventual NL CY wasn't even in the top 10.

I think their numbers reflect the relative power (or weakness) of the BDF Conference. Someone has to win that mess and if they do so without a loss, or possibly with one loss (but NO MORE than 1) they might get invited.

I also think that percentage is based on their FPI which is tied to a "talent" evaluation of their squads. And if anybody has an overanked talent evaluation, it is the sips.

the sips get to play Alabama in the space you'd like to play them - at your house and early in the season when they won't be as good as they'll be in November. If the Sips pulled that upset they'd be a title contender. It's just that simple.

We have to go through bama. They go through Baylor. Why is it so hard to understand that their path is way easier than ours.

It isn't bias, if Texas wins the big 12, they will have a great shot at the playoffs. We have a much harder road, having to go through the SEC west, then take on Georgia or whoever comes out of the East.

Y'all keep forgetting that ESPN pays us a lot more money than they are paying Texas.

I see the true possibility here.

texas can lose to bama, win the big 12 and still get to the playoffs. we lose to bama and its highly unlikely we make the playoffs.

No kidding. It's pretty simple. Once SEC games start we have no gimmes.
I don't expect them to make the playoffs but it is certainly an easier path.

I don't know why ESPN takes up so much of y'all's headspace.
Let's go, Brandon!

ESPN takes up Zero of my headspace. It was merely a funny observation.

The sips have to go through Bama too (game 2) so I was wondering based on their lackluster history, new QB situation, schedule and what you all consider a terrible coach...why they have a "perceived" better shot than us to make the NC.

BTW...is it really "that simple and not so hard to understand", if so I'm clearly just a moron? Y'all crack me up.

It's important to remember that ESPN/Fox/CBS is in the business of driving engagement/clicks more than anything. The suits don't care about the sport so much as they do about the cash it brings (see: Big10 in California)

"Texas is back" and "Texas is in the back of the pack" both drive clicks/retweets/Facebook posts…

We know we are receiving more capital however, ESPN is paying us because we are in the SEC, they are paying them as one.

yes, they play bama this year too, but its a non-conference game. as i mentioned above, they can lose to bama, win the big 12 and still go to the playoffs (them winning the b12 is unlikely, but its possible). If we lose to bama, it is highly unlikely we make the playoffs...and we probably won't beat bama (i hope i'm wrong).

That's because it also has Auburn as the favorites in our matchup.

Sips got Arch. Just the thought of him coming next year will give them the motivation to dominate the bdf.

"ESPN pays us more than t.u."

Couple of issues with that.

1) They pay us a lot because we are part of the best conference in the best sport around. That is mostly due to other conference members being elite (we are getting there).

2) They pay us a lot because the SEC Network makes a lot of money for Mickey

3) They pay sip a lot because they made a massive strategic miscalculation and agreed to pay them while nobody watches.

4) Because of #3, they absolutely have a vested interest in sip being good at any point before that albatross is removed from their neck, so they can stop the bleeding.

Thinking that we are on any kind of even ground with sip when it comes to Mickey is just incorrect. That's not me crying about it or being obsessed with sip, those are just the facts of the situation. It's business.

Losses to La Monroe and then Alabama will reduce the 13% to zero. Cooper Mannings son Arch will not make it to Austin in time to save Sark and the sips. He won't be playing for tu.

What would you consider their investment, now?

The one that's going away?

How does ESPN benfit by predicting TX has an 11% easier path this year?

(They certainly do).

"ESPN pays us more than t.u."

Probably not if you include the "in kind" advertisement donations that prop up their business together.
