I wish this were true, but I'd be willing to bet you it's not. Jimbo has shown that for whatever reason, he is not giving Connor the same opportunity as the other two.

Haynes will get the majority of the snaps, Max will get a good handful, and Connor might get one or two series at the end of the fourth quarter if we are in a blowout situation.

It just seems like since we had QB1 go down last year everyone just assumes it is going to happen this year. It's not that common.

based on no secret insider knowledge, to me it seems as though jimbo would prefer the starter be haynes king. i think he likes the idea of what king can bring to the table with his wheels. so that gives king every opportunity to win the job but he still has to win it. i think jimbo knows what he has in max johnson and would feel very comfortable moving forward with him but he prefers haynes upside to max consistency. however if king has ongoing issues with turning the ball over that seems to be the kiss of death with jimbo and could cost king the job. if king has a error free third scrimmage i think it's his job but if he turns the ball over multiple times i think jimbo moves forward with max johnson.

Not really saying anything we haven't heard:

- King is looking good in practice
- Echoes reports that he's added some muscle in the off-season
- He real fast. Real fast.

I think it's fair to think he's got a leg up, being that he won the job last year and we've consistently heard reports about his command of the playbook, but I certainly won't be surprised if Max takes the reigns early either.

Hard to say for sure, of course, but our QBs last year didn't seem to have good technique for preventing injury on QB runs. I suspect with the depth we have that we have more designed and optional QB runs this year than last, so unless that got fixed, there is probably going to be an injury or two. Hopefully not a major season-ending injury, but it seems like most SEC schools have their QB1 go down for some amount of time during the season.

My BAS really wants a lucky #13 QB to lead us to the promised land!

Start all three in a Diamond wishbone with Achane at tail behind them:

Two reasons:

1) Most SEC teams don't make it through the season without having at least two guys get some important snaps. It's a very physical league and a very vulnerable position.

2) We have three guys that all have certain things going for them. All three are capable. The two upper classmen have shown inconsistency in past play (up and down), the under classmen is inexperienced.

When has Jimbo ever done that? Anywhere? Ever? It's more likely that 1 guy gets all the snaps than it is the #3 guy gets any.

Jimbo wants to make sure #1 is prepared for SEC games (and Miami). And if that means keeping the starter in when we are up 50 with 5 minutes left that's what he'll do.

There's an old saying, best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Care to guess how many SEC teams made it through the entire season without having a second QB take meaningful snaps? Since you clearly don't know, I'll help you, 5 out of 14, about 35%.

Yes, it is likely that we will need multiple QB's during the season. It may insult your sensibilities, but it is no less true. Maybe we get lucky.

We also have two guys that have been inconsistent so far in their careers. Haynes has a career 40 QBR and Max has sprinkled good games with bad. The other guy is a true Freshman. I do think we will be good at the position because we have a much deeper talent pool this year, but I doubt it will be a straight path start-to-finish for one guy.

You may not like that opinion, but it's far from unreasonable.

The "initial" starting guy would be the guy that starts game 1. Words have meanings and what not.
