As the father of twin 19 yo girls (sophomores) at U if A, I think it is a good school and (honestly) feels a lot like Aggieland in the early 90s.
Tell us more about these twins of yours...

LOL, I was well into the bottle when I asked that question and I had lost sight of what was being discussed. Muddled. Sober now.$240 Worth of Pudding said:Ag Tag said:Which A is that Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, etc.?MosesRAB-93 said:

Context clues are hard.
Yet you're not proud enough to identify it. So is it really a top school?33 said:
My wife is an Aggie and I am a Longhorn. From birth, we tried NOT to steer our child to either UT or A&M. We both wanted a better academic school that was the best fit.
Happily, our child is a fan of both UT / A&M; but, thriving at a top school.

at least he didn't choose Purdon't.NJaggie said:
My son chose Purdue but he loves A&M. He is a big sports fan so growing up we watched a lot of Aggie sporting events. It did not work out but he got a great education and landed a great job. If the Aggies played Purdue in any sporting event no doubt he would cheer for the Aggies. He did attend A&M for one summer semester. His claim to fame is that in his first day of class he sat next to a freshman football player named Johnny Manziel. Manziel was very nice to him and gave him directions as my son was unfamiliar with the campus. He did not know who Manziel was at the time, but unfortunately Manziel did not return after first day.
This... Reading this thread I was thinking "isn't this the way it's ALWAYS been"? When I was at A&M in the 90s, the running joke was "Well, in Ol' Army days..." thinking of the graduates that would complain that it "just wasn't the same." Now we're the "Ol Ags".Texmexag said:
Lots of good old day syndrome around here. We all tend to idealize our college experience as we get older. Loved my time at A&M In the early 90's but my day is long gone. My oldest is now a student at A&M and is absolutely loving HER experience not reliving mine. I love seeing all changes and new things on campus and around town. I'm a little jealous to be honest…. But hey, yell at clouds if it makes you happy
lol some you are too funny… and clueless.TAMU bball fan said:
Definitely won't be pushing my kids towards a college with 75,000 students. There are better options.
That's a silly comment and conclusion.12thMan9 said:Yet you're not proud enough to identify it. So is it really a top school?33 said:

"A&M is not the same A&M I went to. So I really don't care if my kids want to go there."
What BS! What nonsense! Of course the school is not the same as when you went there; It is better, much better! I graduated 58 years ago and I love the place more now than I did then. In five years I will love it more than I do now.
. My oldest graduated from Ark and my youngest is there now. I've been to a few games with them but I'm not putting on Ark gear (and NFW if wear Tech hear)!jr15aggie said:
Just got back a few days ago from Lubbock with my oldest for Tech orientation. Couldn't be happier for her! Spent $180 on tech gear for the family when we come down to visit (hopefully for a football game). Wore my tech polo with pride the last day on campus.
I HATED tech back in my college days cause we played them every year and the pirate usually kicked the crap out of us. But fast forward 20 years and I could care less. Guns up for my daughter!

... A&M is trying to be the largest university in the world.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University is located in Delhi, India. The university has more than 4,000,000 students. Its most popular learning venues are those through open and distance learning. Indira Gandhi National Open promotes research, teaching, extension, and training as part of its curricula. The university has also established its first regional headquarters in Kerala, with more planned in the future to cater to even more students still.

…despite 18 years years of heavy Aggie indoctrination…
it was down to A&M, Auburn, and Hogs. Boy choose Hogs.
So why did he break his daddy's heart?
They just hand him more money and attention and he had a lot of friends from his school go there.
A&M just gave him an offer, but not to his #1 college. Hogs gave him in-state tuition plus more money plus the honors program.
After he visited Hogs he said he "had found his people".
Kid also visited Auburn. He liked it okay. So did his daddy and mom and sister. We could have been okay with Auburn. It's a lovely town and the people are so dang nice.
But Hogs?
I'd challenge you on that point! Are you making that statement based on your personal religious/theological beliefs? If so, I disagree strongly. I am an '89 grad, a follower of Jesus and I can attest the student body has far more Christ followers than when I attended. Breakaway averages 13,000 students every Tues night!evestor1 said:
I've been pushing Deep South schools only to my children. A&M is a great school ... that is far more liberal than I am raising my kids.
If you could put a non Mormon BYU in the South I'd be pushing my kids there.
Well, it's a school that is big but is not a great school academically, which is what I think he is referencing. But, then again, we are in a thread where people are pumping up Arkansas academics. I'm just along for the ride.jja79 said:
