He says now he never said ATM did anything illegal, that we assumed that.

This is false.

He said ATM bought its class. You cannot buy a class without breaking the rules. You can't use NIL to recruit so you certainly cannot buy a players signature which would be required to buy the class. That is illegal. Even if by "buy" he didn't mean buy but he meant to entice, that is still illegal.

He did not say ATM used NIL to its advantage.

In the full video, before his massive gaff of calling out particular programs, he clarifies/defines what he means by pay or buy.

But yeah, there are a group of A&M recruits that are not on campus yet. So by saying A&M bought every player, he is saying that A&M stepped outside the laws of the state of Texas and maybe the NCAA. If the NCAA even has rules anymore.

Saban was wrong in the law, wrong on the facts…the only thing he could do was pound the table. Jimbo correctly argued both law and facts and was 100% correct based in what the current environment is.

There is a collective at Texas A&M. It does not coordinate with the school. It does not break Texas law. It does not violate NCAA rules.

Saban's key concern is bringing back the old ways where is ascendancy to a national championship at a blue blood football school gave him a repeated advantage in forward-looking recruiting. But he does a damn good job at maximizing eyes on target for talent with former head coaches providing analysis. That was like Gil Brandt's scouting with Cowboys.

But being good at something doesn't make you right about everything…

Interesting. What did he say he meant by "buy"?

Hey guys, when I say "buy" I don't mean buy, I mean something else. So now I can say buy, know that it will be quoted and I can fall back on "yea, I said that but I didn't mean buy as you understand that term, you see I changed its meaning for purposes of what I was talking about…". That is funny. Nice try Nick.
