bama vs tu is scheduled for 11am kickoff.

Did bama play any games last year at 11?

Just curious, they are saying it's being dictated by the networks, but the networks want their best games at prime time slots. Either they anticipate a rout/boring game, or they don't think anyone cares to watch the short horns. No way the networks viewed this as a premiere game and put it at 11.

that is Fox's "prime" spot for college football. yes, its a premier game from network's view.

That will likely be the most-watched game of the weekend.

This is a tradition for the sips that the SEC must respect and keep.

Since tu is still so perpetually young, they can't be out past 8pm

It's all part of the sip strategy.

The sip fans can't get near as drunk for an 11 am game so the booing won't be as raucous when they're down three scores before halftime.

Have you watched any non A&M game in the last 5 years? You just sound like an idiot with how fox has pumped its big noon games.

Boring answer here, but they're trying to maximize their revenue. Plus, who knows what other agreements have been made about the timings of games between conferences, networks, ADs, etc.

The right answer is that FOX gets to pick what game it wants to televise from BigXII, and it selected that game and put it in what it considers to be its best time slot.

This Bama game is sandwiched between games against the warhawks and roadrunners so if the sips don't play the game at 11 am, they might get caught looking ahead to the tu-bexar game week 3. 11 am is their thing.

Nothing will stop sip fans from getting drunk for this game. It'll just be after they leave in the 3rd quarter blowout.

Last year, Alabama played one game that had an 11 AM kickoff, and that was a cupcake game against New Mexico State on 11/13/21. By contrast, Texas played 7 games that started at 11:00 AM, including in 4 consecutive weeks from 9/25/21 to 10/16/21 before a bye week on 10/23/21. After the bye week, Texas had 3 such games at Baylor on 10/30/21, at West Virginia on 11/20/21, and at home against Kansas State on 11/26.

Fox airs games at 2:30 PM, such as our game at Colorado last year, but 11:00 AM is their prime spot. For example, Fox always airs the Red River Showdown at 11:00 AM.

so bama will play a cupcake game at 11AM this year, too.

seems reasonable.

If that is Fox's prime slot it explains why Fox sports is the minor league of college sports broadcasts.

Lol it's smart business, why compete with other games when you can own a time slot?

The number one viewership was for an 11AM kick last year. 5 of the 16 most watched games kicked at 11AM.

I don't prefer to go to 11AM kick off games but I've been to plenty.

Hahaha. 11 AM games suck. It's probably one of many reasons horn and OU are bolting for SEC/ESPN. Fox is about to "own" the 11:00 time slot with hot Baylor/UH action.

As soon as they start selling out their stadium, they can have better time slots.

And eat their meat....or they can't have any pudding.
