If we get Mathews, that would be surprising to me but I hope we do. Maybe he held off, bc he knew it would be nuts for him if he committed to us early until signing day.

Frankly Mathews is the one I'm most excited about. We need as strong of a secondary as possible. Need the ball hawk! DL will be fine as we sit today.

Don't be surprised

no knock-on Stewart but Perkins is the prize of this recruiting class.... his athleticism is unmatched and would immediately elevate our LB squad. we need to seriously upgrade our LB talent pool and Perkins is the perfect fit (LB recruiting has been very hit or miss recently) ...Stewart is just another body in our already stacked DL class...

Linebacker is a "want-to" position. You have to "want-to" stick your nose in there, you have to "want-to" track down the ball carrier from sideline to sideline. It seems kinda clear to me that Perkins doesn't "want-to." He wants to be a RB, but no college coaches are recruiting him as that. He has all the physical tools to be a stud LB, but without that mental edge, he's nothing. If he signs with us, and the light bulb turns on, great. But I'm not counting on it. I won't be upset if he signs elsewhere.

Ever actual football highlight says you are wrong. He is not a worse player somehow because he decomitted from the Aggies.

And every big time D1 coach recruiting him as a LB says I'm right…and I don't think he's a worse player because he decomitted, I just think his attitude sucks. There's gonna be plenty of guys that can play LB behind this D line, we'd be fine without him.

I really son't get how people think they can pass judgement on someone's attitude from a soundbite? Seriously. Haven't we learned enough as a modern society living with social media that it's harmful to make such rash assumptions on limited info? It's like people are trying to project their disappointment on a kid because he isn't going to make their lives better.

Now that Perkins & his family went and burned an A&M hat for no reason on Instagram and showed what typical, backwards Louisiana trash they were, you can go ahead and admit I was right when I said his attitude sucks and we're better off without him.

Well, that's the things about assumptions, they're sometimes right. But sometimes they're wrong and they can negatively effect others. You do you.

wrong. Stewart could be a Top15 draft pick. Perkins is hit or miss. Hasn't proven anything at linebacker except avoids contact.

I agree with the OP re: this DL and think we can afford to lose a 5-star LB given that any decent LB is going to have a field day behind this line.
And who knows…….Mathews may wind up being that "decent LB". He's a thumper.

Looks like somebody wasn't paying attention during Under Armor week when it was nothing but a collection of the top talent in the country. Stewart was a standout player all week long.
