Ssban doesn't like the fact that what he's been getting away with for years is now legal and he's getting his ass handed to him for a change.
You do realize they have the number 2 class and will be playing for the national championship tomorrow right? I wish we could get our ass handed to us like that.

I also realize this sounds an awful lot like his griping about up tempo/high octane offenses after which he went out and did the same exact thing.

NIL is a potential disruptor like scholarship reductions in the 70's, passing game evolutions, etc. Programs on top right now should be nervous

Why? Aren't the same teams on top now pretty much the same teams that have been on or near the top since the 50s?

Gerrymandering.

Many will be disappointed to find A&M is not the NIL juggernaut they suppose.

So disappointing. I've dreamed of A&M building an NIL juggernaut since I was a little boy.

We got the jump on NIL. We won this year at recruiting because we were more organized, and we have the fan base to support a big money program.

The coaches that didn't win at recruiting lost because they did not embrace the change as quickly as we did.

I believe that this first mover advantage will keep A&M in the limelight for the short to mid term. I liken it to Mack Brown, when he started recruiting sophomores in highschool. He was the most organized and committed recruiter for a good number of years, he upped the anti significantly, and then the programs around him adjusted and copied his style.

I believe that the same will happen at A&M. We figured out what works. People will copy us. Some will be able to keep up, but not that many. We will eventually lose that edge. Just not sure if that will be next year, or 5 years from now.

In the meantime, success breeds success. This was a bump forward we really needed.

Smart has it right. We are likely going to come up with a group of 25 to 50 schools in a different bracket than the FBS. The rest of FBS leftovers will wind up doing something different. I don't think that the Supreme Court intended that their ruling opened up the doors for individual schools to pay their own players. I don't see why there aren't some ways that the NCAA can eliminate schools from out and out paying players. I don't think that allowing boosters to create schemes to pay players without earning their own NIL money should be allowed.

The truth is that the NCAA failed to come up with some way to create a system to do this without just letting the lawsuits rule the system.

Part of Saban's issue is really different states adhering to different guidelines for NIL. After getting ***** slapped in court, the NCAA took the wrong approach with NIL so states had to come up with their own rules.

When Saban makes these comments to the press, he is usually targeting them to a certain audience. In this case it was the Alabama legislature who had set more restrictive guidelines for NIL. As a result, they have already filed to have that last law repealed.

The whorns have always dominated Alabama, they're 7-1-1 against Bama.
And yet 0-1 against Bama over the last 40 years.

A law is not a lawsuit…the lawsuits opened the door for laws to be passed but were mostly "non-remunerative."

Alabama and Georgia have been paying players for years. It was not called NIL. It was called paper bags.

And that's why they are pissed

Because now their advantage of using paper bags is gone

What? You think they were the only ones paying playing under the table before NIL? I've got news for you, every major school has been doing that for decades.

My way, but the blue bloods never got punished for it and sent their snitches out to get the non blue bloods that were cheating

Why do u think we got probation back in the 80s and 90s and tu didn't?

Because tu sicked the ncaa on us and we couldn't counter it

Why do you think ole miss gets hit with sanctions but bama never does and LSU has gone so long without any penalties even after all the crap they have pulled recently?

Billy keeps saying they are going to get hit but it hasn't happened yet and a coach just left notre dame for lsu, which suggests that even if they do get hit it will be minor, otherwise why would Kelly leave for a program that was about to get hammered?

There are "protected" programs and those that aren't

NIl allows the "unprotected" programs a chance to compete on a level playing field with the protected programs, and those protected programs hate it
