Excuses excuses….how many of those players were big difference makers?
Tech doesn't even have their starting QB
Well, at least they showed up to their bowl game.

This is NOT the same MSU team that visited Kyle in October

Sure it is. Problem is the other team in maroon at Kyle that day wasn't any good either.

And how many on this board discredited our orange bowl win last season against a depleted UNC team.

SEC is terrible this year.
Bowl games, outside of the CFP, don't tell you anything any more about how conferences stack up against each other. The better a team is, the more likely they will have opt-outs who are only interested in preventing injuries in order to perform well at the Combine, move up in the draft, etc. The current system actually favors upsets because of this. The NFL and the CFP have pretty much ruined all of the bowl games except for the semifinal and final games. The amount of talent from the SEC heading to the NFL is ridiculous in comparison to other conferences. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Except when the SEC wins most of them. Then it's SEC, SEC! A conference that has a couple of highly ranked teams because they beat a bunch of mediocre conference mates is still mediocre.
We in the SEC tend to like our conference. We root for our conference mates. We don't try to escape from them to join better conferences, sue them when they leave for greener pastures, etc. At the end of the day, though, it's hard to deny that these non-CFP bowls are all that meaningful. They're mostly a fun road event for those players not destined for the NFL.

This all day

Many on this board are often dusting off their knee pads for everything SEC. and discredit everything for every other conference especially Big 12.
Last year we beat a gutted UNC team in orange bowl and nobody here discredited that win.
Year before that we beat an Oklahoma state team by 3 that had its top offensive player opt out and again.. nobody discredited that win

This board acts like the main stream media does.. if it fits your narrative then run with it. If it doesn't fit your narrative then find every angle possible to downplay it

After a 5-2 start, Texas Tech ended the regular season with 4 losses in their final 5 regular season games, but they dominated Mississippi State from start to finish. As a result, Texas Tech finished 7-6, their best record since a 7-6 finish in 2015 and won a bow game for the first time since a 37-23 win over Arizona State in the 2013 Holiday Bowl. Also, Texas Tech handed their former head coach Mike Leach an embarrassing bowl loss.

UH and tech are trash schools but I am glad to see the little guys from texas public schools beat the vaunted sec programs. I don't have and Fs to give about the teams we play year in and year out.

While i agree with you on this it's not as if no one pursues their preferred narratives against us.

We should beat Mississippi State every friggin year. Why in the hell do we have trouble with a Leach? With the talent advantage we have we should beat Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State every year.

Theoretically Auburn and LSU could say the same thing but they don't either. Not all of Alabama, Auburn, LSU and A&M are all going to be good in the same year. And the other West schools all recruit in the 20-25 range which doesn't mean they're untalented per se.

The only 3 head coaches to beat Mike Leach 2 years in a row were Nick Saban, Sam Pittman, and Lane Kiffin. Mark Stoops and Jimbo Fisher had wins over Mike Leach last year, but they both had losses to Mike Leach this year.

How does a mediocre Texas Tech team destroy MSU? Seems like they just didn't care about the game.

By my count yesterday, State was down 11 players. Now Leach says they were down 16. The final score seems appropriate, if true.
