The Aggies were working with Penn State to play in the Dixie Classic Jan 1922, and some Sophomore named Gill will be the backup QB on the 1921 team (Texags favorite player!)

Gill played in the LSU game as a substitute player:

You need to check out the Batt Fall Sports issue from 1921. It's the first known use of 12th Man at A&M

I have a 1922 Longhorn signed by all American football player TF Puny Wilson and a couple other more well known Ags that I believe have Campus buildings named after them. This year I have on my project list to research all the people who signed the book. But that name and a couple others jumped out at me.

Very cool yearbook. Highly recommend checking out the contents at Cushing if you're an Aggie football fanatic.

My Aggie ring is a pass down from an Ag that was class of 1922 and played in the Dixie Classic. They made a new ring that has both my name and his name engraved on the inside.

My wife has her grandfather's 1918 - 1921 (A&M) Longhorn yearbooks. He was class of '21. Pretty cool stuff. Have all of his senior class memorabilia as well. Ring ended up with another family member.

I love looking at these old "Longhorn" yearbooks.
It's like having a time machine.

Texas being "heralded as the wonder team" despite being any but, looks like nothing has changed in the last 100 years.

My Frog roommate's father was Ted Winn who scored in the 22 game.

Tiny Keen was a regular attendee at the Dallas A&M Club. Huge guy!

22 yearbook misspelled Centre as Center.

22 yearbook did not mention E. King Gill the 12thMan!

King Gill was probably considered a substitute since had played on the football team earlier in the year.

If you'll read the battalion article I posted from 1923 you'll see the Corps voted to call themselves, the student body, as the twelfth man

Whats the story behind the yearbook called the Longhorn. Did TU steal that name from us?
