I looked it up. His completion % was 63-64% throughout his hs career . Didn't vary much yr to
Yr.

For comparison sake, Haynes King completion % varied a lot in his hs career. Soph 53%, Jr 69%, Sr 57%.

I saw Weigman play once and he looked great that night.

I've said it before. I think he's as good a prospect as Luck or Murray or Brees.

As a high schooler he's a much more accurate passer than Johnny was.

Lance Pavalus out of Tomball was highly recruited QB that Jackie got. It was 1985 so couldn't tell you his numbers and back then you didn't throw like you see today. Tate from Baytown had pretty salty numbers from what I recall.

Drew Brees was not much of a prospect.
He only received 2 scholarship offers… Purdue and Kentucky.

A&M wouldn't even return his phone call.
Drew played HS ball and won a state title at Westlake about 20 minute from the Texas campus and both his parents are Aggies yet neither school wanted him.

The Horns did ok without him. Us, not so much.

Weigman is gonna be a good one. One of the more natural passers we've had in a while.

Brees was a solid HS prospect. He just wasn't the 4+ star prospect coming out due to his measurables. He obviously proved everyone wrong.

Brees was a very good player, as mentioned he didn't have the measurables. He also had a good crew around him I believe Earl Campbell's son was their number 1 WR back then.

Drew Tate never had great WRs, at Baytown he was a one man show and was freaking elusive. We changed up our defense to have more speed at DL and he still kept getting away. We ended up winning but all of us DL and LB were tired after that game.

Weigman is closer to Brees but has the measurables, out of all the QBs I think he compares to Russell Wilson. Athletic, stocky, a little on the shorter side, and accurate. If he lives up to the hype he should have a long career playing on Sundays.

Good points all above and as far as what I hear from the folks I trust regarding Houston area HS athletics, it is my contention that he is considered at least equal to if not better than Luck as he leaves HS to College.

If better than Luck, is he the best ever out of H-town area?

Andre Ware wasn't bad. HS stays maybe not the same, different game now.

There was a Houston area QB prospect that came out of Madison HS back in the early 2000's. Went on to have some success with a state school in central Texas. A little success early on in the NFL then had some personal issues. Probably worth a mention in the discussion of QB's to come out of the Greater Houston area though.

Just my opinion but, Vince Young was probably the best athlete to play quarterback, but not even in the discussion for best pure quarterback. His time in the NFL finally exposed him as such. I saw him play several times in High School and honestly thought it would catch up to him in college, but he was such a tremendous pure athlete that he could put pressure on a defense despite his lack of pure passing ability.

Good comparison! I feel like Weigman probably performed against better athletes than Manziel at Kerrville.

To be fair, Kerrville played some big names and he still put up big numbers. I don't remember if it was in the playoffs or just smart scheduling but JFF got to face legit competition at least a few times.

Why sign this kid when A&M can sign Ewers instead?

With Wiegman we also get a pretty damn good first baseman.

This kid is just pure athlete. The world is in slow motion for this guy.

Check VY college stats. He threw the ball pretty good. His total package is not like Vince. He's really good but not Johnny or Kyler.

We watched and scouted VY since if we won our playoff game we were going to play the winner of Madison and North Shore. North Shore had several good kids but Madison was the VY and Courtney Lewis show with the final being 65-63. After a slow start it was whoever had the ball last was going to win. Crazy game.

Tate could scramble but did not have the size to do what VY did. Think Tate was around 180-190 in high school and VY was over 220.

When will he be on campus? Spring or Fall?
