At 6-foot, 170-pounds, Frisco (TX) Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart has earned a reputation as a home-run threat on the field over the years, averaging 19.3 yards per reception during his high school career. His speed, quickness and overall athleticism make Stewart one of the more elusive and versatile threats in the country. He is also one of the more refined route runners and technicians you will find at the position.
Stewart’s decision comes on the heels of two recent visits to Aggieland. He took his official visit to College Station on October 22 when the Aggies hosted South Carolina, and he and his family returned for an unofficial visit for the Auburn game the first weekend of November.
Wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig led Texas A&M’s recruiting efforts, and his long-standing relationship with Stewart helped the Aggies make a strong push leading up to his decision.
In addition to Texas A&M, Stewart took official visits to Texas and Florida, with Alabama and LSU also among his top choices.
Stewart becomes Texas A&M’s 19th commitment of the 2022 recruiting class and he joins Noah Thomas and Chris Marshall at the receiver position.
In three seasons at Frisco Liberty, Stewart recorded 108 receptions for 2,084 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. He was also a standout on the track, where he clocked a 10.58 100m and 21.38 200m in the spring of 2021 and anchored Liberty’s state champion 4x400m squad and runner-up 4x200m squad. He won state in the long jump with a 24-6.5, and he claimed second in the triple jump with a leap of 48-9.
