LSU or OU??? It's his to pick.

To make this A&M related - we will be playing both these teams and the Baylol opening might entice Elko to jump.
Do not post opposing views or you too, like me, will become a shadow of your former self.

At this point the LSU job has to be down to aranda, fickle or mike stoops. The longer this goes the more I think it has to be aranda or fickle.

Lol this is you talking as an Aggie, not someone thinking about it being a great stepping stone job like Houston is.

It's a good career move compared to most schools you could pick as your first hc gig. Easy to recruit, good facilities, winnable conference.

That program will forever be tied to rape enablement.

It should have had its football program shuttered.
It was a good temp stop for Matt Rhule, that's it

I think Aranda stays at Baylor & I think Fickell stays at Cincinnati. The gap in money has closed. Every coach is crazy rich now. Even the UTSA coach just got a bump to almost 3 million/year. I think some dudes just wanna coach & be happy and raise their family. The playoff has created a world where 40-50 teams think they're worthy, and there's only 4 slots. It makes a lot of unhappy fanbases, which ratchets up the pressure. Ohio State & Oregon will probably play for the Rose Bowl, which used to be their ultimate goal, but instead both those fanbases are pissed. Some coaches probably don't wanna deal with that sh*t.

Given what's about to happen to Baylor with the big 12 implosion, their best bet is to be a stepping stooge for head coaches.

If it is going to be announced Wednesday, I doubt it is Aranda 3 days before their championship game. Probably Mark Stoops

Counterpoint. With the inevitable playoff expansion, the B12 is a perfect spot to plug in 1-2 teams in the playoff every year and Baylor, TCU and OSU stand to fight each other for those spots every year.

I'd bet Stoops too and I don't like it. I'd much rather have seen Riley go there.

$4 million per year will buy a lot of shiplap in Waco. With the expanded playoff, all Aranda would have to do is win the Big XII every now and then and he can have that job as long as he likes.

This. With Sooners and sips leaving, Baylor will play for a BDF title and CFP spot every year. Probably going to be the easiest route to CFP there is.

You could say that about other conferences as well. Its hard for me to see any aspect of that situation a positive for any of the leftover big 12 teams.

Rumors right now that Clemson DC Brent Venables is now prime target for OU

why does everybody think every coordinator wants to be HC, or better yet think that a good DC makes a good head coach automatically? I don't get it. Some people want to hitch their wagon to the right leader and enjoy the ride.

this, to me, is the biggest difference between having a playoff and not having a playoff.

when it was the old bowl system, sure you wanted to win the NC, but you knew that you were at the mercy of voters and so you felt good winning your conference and going to a new year's day bowl, hoping that if you won the chips would fall your way.

even with the BCs, since it was only 2 teams you felt a little better about it, but now with a playoff if you don't get in the fanbases of these big programs become somewhat disengaged and apathetic towards the post-season.

it's time for expansion.

Why? Baylor has had success with like 3 of it's last 4 coaches? Briles, Matt Rhule, and Dave Aranda have all had them in the top 10.

Seems like a healthy place to be. The only uncertainty is with their conference, which will only get stronger from top to bottom for the first few years til the TV money dries up.

Let's be real: If we could be like Baylor athletics in the next 365 days, it would be a step in the right direction.

Very few (like zero) coaches do not have the ultimate goal of winning a national title. The money is awesome and everything but at the end of the day, these guys are driven to win it all and they will go wherever they feel they have the best chance to do just that.

If so OU must have known Lincoln was gone. Or that's the fastest coaching search ever.

3pm seems confirmed but may be dealing with Stoops as interim coach for the bowl game.

If I am OU I am hiring mark stoops. A really good coach who may be a great coach with better talent. Throw in the pending move to the sec me thinks it has to be a coach with sec experience.

"may be great coach" is not who a great program hires.

Aranda can't recruit elite at Baylor, but he could still win the Big12 regularly. That's something he's got to look favorably upon.
