I know that recruiting is a huge portion of the job, but removing that, how would you rank the HCs of the last 30 years? So this would include prep for the game, and all the game day decisions. This only includes their time at A&M, and interim coaches don't count. My stab at it...

1. RC
2 (tie) Sherman & Jimbo
4. Sumlin
5. Fran

Hopefully I didn't leave anyone out.

You people have such short memories. Sherman was an absolute dog of an in-game coach. I'll still take Jimbo over watching Sherman blow lead after lead away with his conservative BS play calling

Its a three way tie between Sherman, Sumlin, and Jimbo. Same records basically.

Fran was bad, but at least he was cheap.

I'm not sure what the difference is in the end. Blowing leads vs never getting them.

When Jimbo blows second half double digit leads with his calls five games a year, come talk to me

Sherman is below Sumlin and Fisher. Let's be realistic here. Dude was consistently out-coached in the Big 12

Yep. That was by far the most frustrating season.

Records is a lazy comparison. Not that it doesn't matter, but how you won/lost matters also. Even as bad as some of the play calling and execution have been at times, there's not a single game that we weren't in. IMO, the biggest thing Sumlin had that Jimbo doesnt was JFF, and with him the ability to score TDs on opening drives. We start slow and are constantly digging ourselves a hole to work out of. Sometimes we can. Too often we can't.
