I am with Jimbo so take a hike. Players need to execute consistently and with toughness. Jimbo cannot play for them.
Good coaching allows players execute. It keeps them in the right mindset and puts them in position to overachieve.
A good example is Tony Larussa after the 2004 World Series loss. He acknowledged that he micromanaged and by focusing on every little detail - the players were too tight and in their own heads. He changed his coaching approach during big games and in 2006 won it all against a better team.
I think Jimbo is a great coach but probably micromanages way too much - that's why players look stiff and unprepared sometimes.
